These are some of my favourite products from our beauty desk this month – they’ve all been personally reviewed by me and get the WomenStuff stamp of approval!

1. L.A Girl Metal Liquid Lipstick

L.A Girl Metal Liquid Lipstick

If you love metallics then you will adore these new liquid lipsticks from L.A Girl. Available in 18 nude and jewel-tone shades, this creamy, non-drying liquid lipstick glides onto your lips and leaves a beautiful metallic finish. These fun lipsticks are great for a night out on the town and thanks to the added Vitamin E and Argan Oil, they leave your lips feeling moisturised and looking fabulous. These liquid lipsticks are also super long-wearing and comfortable. The colours in the range are highly pigmented and the colour lasts for a few hours through eating and drinking (win!).

L.A Girl Metalic Liquid Lipsticks are available from Dis-Chem Pharmacies at R95 each.

2. Sothys Hydra 3Ha Hydrating treatment

If you’re looking for a ‘pick-me-up’ before the festive season then this Sothys treatment offers the perfect combination of technological advancement and pure relaxation. Based around triple helix Hyaluronic acid, delivered in a six-phase process, The Sothys Hydra 3Ha Hydrating treatment gives skin an incredible boost of hydration. Combine that with the unique Sothys Digi-Esthetique® massage technique and you’ve got a real winner on your hands. Sothys claims that after just one treatment hydration is increased by 71 percent. I’m no skin specialist so I can’t back up that claim but I can tell you that this treatment left my skin feeling soft and looking like a million bucks. There are no fancy machines involved in the treatment, just great products and it really does hydrate like a boss. I noticed an immediate difference in the appearance of my skin after the treatment and the results lasted a good few days after the treatment. I looked less tired and fine lines around my eyes and mouth seemed less pronounced after I had this wonderous spoil so it gets a big thumbs up in my books. This is definitely a treatment I will go for again and again as I can only imagine what the results would be like after a regular treatment plan.

I experienced the Sothys Hydra 3Ha Hydrating treatment at Glasshouse Rejuvenation at the Waterfront Silo District. The treatment is R750 for a 75-minute treatment.

3. BioNike 15 Fruit Xsense Multi-Sensorial Oil

Bionike 15 Fruit Xsense Multi-Sensorial Oil

I love multi-use oils and this one from BioNike is a real winner. It smells like heaven and can be used on your face, body, and hair. The oil has a delicate, fresh, fruity scent that is light enough to wear with your favourite perfume without clashing but strong enough to last for hours after applying. The multi-tasking oil can be misted on the body, face, and hair to offer a moisture boost and a bit of a shine. When used on the skin the oil absorbs quite quickly and leaves your skin feeling ultra-soft, smooth, and nourished. When using it on your hair the oil can be applied to wet or dry hair and is great for taming frizz or bringing dull hair back to life in-between washes. A quick spritz of this wondrous oil will make your hair smell as fresh as a daisy, so it also works to mask smoke and other odours left on your hair after a night out.

BioNike 15 Fruit Xsense Multi-Sensorial Oil is available from Dis-Chem stores and is priced at R230 (100ml).

4. Wet Brush Detangle Professional Brush

Wet Brush-Pro Detangle Professional Brush

It might seem odd to be super excited about a hairbrush but here’s the thing, I’ve been hearing so much chatter about this brush that I was beyond excited to finally try it. If you’ve got long hair that is a nightmare to detangle when wet then do yourself a favour and invest in a Wet Brush. Specifically designed to detangle wet hair, this hair brush is being hailed as the saviour of sanity by hair stylists the world over. The brush comes in a range of sizes but I tried the standard sized “Classic” brush and let me tell you, it detangles like an absolute champ. My hair knots like nobody’s business when wet and this little wonder glides through tangles without a hitch. The brush works like a bomb because of some clever features including the IntelliFlex Bristles (thing and strong, yet flexible, these bristles help to gently detangle hair), ultra-soft polytips SofTips (which help protect the hair and sensitive scalps), and the ergonomically designed rubber handle which ensures the brush doesn’t slip out of your hands when it’s wet.

Wet Brush-Pro Detangle Professional Brush is available online from Hairhouse Warehouse and is priced at R129.

5. Kiss New York Professional Honey Nourishing Facial Mask

Kiss New York Professional Honey Nourishing Facial Mask

Sheet masks have pretty much revolutionised by beauty routine at home. They’re really invaluable when you’re having a week so busy you don’t even have time to eat, let alone think about heading to the spa for a facial. I always look for masks that offer that spa feeling at home and this nourishing sheet mask from Kiss New York Professional offers that in spades. The cotton wool mask, infused with honey, is ultra-soft and nourishes the skin like a boss. Honey is a natural antioxidant with anti-microbial properties – it nourishes dry skin and improves skin elasticity – and this mask leaves your skin feeling refreshed and gives you a great dewy glow.

Kiss New York Professional Honey Nourishing Facial Mask is available at selected Clicks and Dis-Chem stores.

6. Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Eyeliner Trio

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Eyeliner Trio

I’m a no-fuss makeup kind of gal, so these super easy-to-use eyeliner and shadow pencils are a real winner for me. The ultra-shimmery and versatile glitter eyeliner pencils are great for creating precise definition or smudged out glamour instantly and boy do they work. The colours are highly-pigmented and the creamy formula allows the shadow to glide onto the skin effortlessly.  The added smudge applicator on the end of the pencil lets you create a multitude of looks and it’s great not having to use your finger to create the smudge look. These Shimmer Strip pencils are packed with illuminating shimmer that allows you to create a beautiful sparkly eye with ease. The pencils come in a three pack and include three pencils that can be used as an eyeliner or eyeshadow. I tried the Disco Glam pack which includes Natural (Bronze), Playful (Gold), and Dramatic (Black) – a stunning colour combination! The colour is long-wearing and smudge-resistant so your colour really stays put after a long night out – even more so if you use a good eyeshadow primer on your lids.

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Eyeliner Trio is available from Dis-Chem stores.

7. Not Your Mother’s In a Heart Beat Blow Dry Accelerator

Not Your Mother's In a Heart Beat Blow Dry Accelerator

Do you dread washing your hair because you know what will inevitably come next? I hate blowdrying my own hair and this stuff goes a long way to making the chore less tiresome. This clever little spray reduces your blow drying time so you don’t feel like you need to take another shower after doing your hair! The product is also paraben-free and is a multi-tasker of note. It helps to detangle and soften hair after washing and before heat styling and helps to eliminate frizz, improve humidity resistance, and provided thermal protection to the hair. To use, simply wash your hair as normal and spray on wet hair before blow-drying and watch as your hair dries and styles faster than ever before.

Not Your Mother’s In a Heart Beat Blow Dry Accelerator is available from Dis-Chem stores.

8.  Skinny Tan Body Mousse

Skinny Tan Body Mousse

Skinny Tan became a global success after appearing on UK TV show, Dragons’ Den and after successful launches in the UK and US, Skinny Tan is now in South Africa with a wide range of products to suit every tanning need. I got the chance to try the Skinny Tan Body Mousse and became instantly obsessed with this product which not only offers a killer natural looking tan but also promises to help improve the look of cellulite! Some of the biggest plusses for me when it comes to this product are that it’s cruelty-free and makes use of two certified organic natural tanning ingredients to give you a deep, natural looking tan. The organic coconut oil and organic Aloe Vera contained in the product leaves skin feeling smooth, moisturised and hydrated and is certified safe to be used on the body and face. As a gal who struggles with dry skin this tanning mousse really does go a long way to leaving your skin feeling super hydrated once it’s applied.

The Skinny Tan Body Mousse is available from Dis-Chem, Wellness Warehouse and selected Clicks stores and is priced at R449,95.
