Yes indeed, after what seemed like the longest wait in the history of ever, New Line Cinema, Sanrio and FlynnPictureCo. are teaming up to develop an English-language Hello Kitty film for the first time in her 45-year history!

After a nearly five-year journey to secure the rights to Hello Kitty for the global silver screen, Sanrio has granted these rights to a major film studio. For more than four decades, Hello Kitty has been a pop-culture inspiration to fans around the world. She exploded into a global phenomenon after her initial design in 1974 and is now found in 130 countries worldwide.

Promoting the heartfelt message of friendship, the Hello Kitty film will feature other popular characters from the wonderful universe including Gudetama, My Melody, Little Twin Stars and more. This film marks the very time that the Hello Kitty story will be brought to the global big screen so all her fans can delight in the fun.

Hello Kitty was initially designed in 1974 and introduced on a coin purse a year later. She can be found in 130 countries on more than 50,000 different branded products each year. The character has never talked so the narrative of the Hollywood adaptation of the upcoming film remains to be seen.
