Want to give back to the community but not sure where to start? Great news for Capetonians, volunteering your time and helping out in needy communities just got so much easier thanks to the MySchool and BetterSA volunteer bus. After a year of success in Johannesburg, during which 620 volunteers boarded the bus giving nearly 1550 hours of their time, the volunteer bus is now in the Mother City! The ‘Uber of volunteering’, this unique bus is making it easier for those wanting to get involved with volunteering to give of their time and engage with local communities.
The unique and innovative hop-on hop-off minibus service is not only super convenient but also safe – all you have to do to get involved is book your spot on the bus and arrive at the bus stop! The service is totally free of charge and fully co-ordinated to maintain organisation and to make the most of the time available. Each experience starts with a detailed briefing on the organisation and community, and all resources for activities are provided. Activities range from playing educational games with children; to visiting the elderly; community clean-ups; teaching computer skills and more.
Specialising in organising and facilitating volunteerism in disadvantages communities, BetterSA is changing lives one bus trip at a time. The non-profit organisation offers weekly bus trips that leave from designated bus stops around Cape Town. The inaugural BetterSA Cape Town minibus, which will launch from the BetterSA stops in Pinelands every Wednesday and Saturday, has been sponsoured by MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet, South Africa’s largest fundraising program.
This is a great opportunity to give hands-on support to local communities and engage with children and individuals in need. Make a difference!
