Luckily for you the WomenStuff team is on the job – we’ve searched high and low for the very best all-day breakfast spots in Cape Town so you don’t have to awkwardly beg the waiter to forget that they stopped serving breakfast at 11:00. Here’s our top 10 list of eateries serving all-day breakfast in Cape Town.

1. Four & Twenty – Wynberg

This quaint little spot is a must-try next time you’re craving a fry-up past 11:30! The eatery is quite famous for the exceptional breakfasts so make sure you pop in for brunch very soon. Try the Breakfast Sumptuous (caramelised onions, smashed avo, Danish feta and a soft poached free-range egg finished with balsamic glaze and served with toast – R56), Beer-batter, Apple & Bacon Flapjacks (fluffy flapjacks served with a pecan and apple Streusel in a cinnamon, caramel sauce and a creamed apple-butter-Mascarpone topped with maple-glazed bacon R82) or the Hearty Baked Eggs (rustic sweet potato and caramelised onion hash, layered with topped with baby spinach and spring onion, home-made tomato smoor, and 2 eggs served with Crusty Toast – R78).

2. Plant – CBD

This little eatery is all about making plant-based food options readily available to Capetonians. At this joint you will find deliciously nutritious food without any harmful ingredients or preservatives. All their food is made from scratch (seriously they make their own mayo, cheeses and smoke their own tempeh bacon) all so you will have peace of mind when eating there! Plant serves breakfast until 14:00, which isn’t all day but hey if you’re having breakfast after 14:00 in the afternoon you might need to reassess your life. Try the French Toast (served with homemade coconut butter and cinnamon maple syrup – R44) or the Traditional Vegan Breakfast (tofu breakfast scramble, served rashers of tempeh bacon, grilled mushroom, tomato and sauteed potato with toast on the side – R69).

3. Knead Bakery and Cafe – Muizenberg, Sea Point, Gardens

This eatery serves up some of the most delicious breakfast dishes in Cape Town, with freshly baked breads and yummy omelettes, French toast, health breakfasts and good old fashioned fried, poached and scrambled eggs on the menu you will be spoiled for choice at this spot. All their breakfasts are served with a choice of sourdough, buttermilk rye, 100% rye or seeded health bread. You can also opt for low-carb or gluten-free bread at an additional cost.

4. Cafe Mozart – CBD

Breakfast is a lavish affair at this Madame Zingara owned eatery. They serve a wide selection of breakfast options all day including everything from wholesome wheat-free muesli to a traditional fry-ups with a twist. We suggest you try the French toast (served with bacon, banana & maple syrup – R47), The Full Mozart (2 eggs, tomato, hash brown, sausage, bacon, mushrooms & toast – R58) or the Poached eggs with toasted croissant, spinach & hollandaise with Salmon – R62). 5. The Big Bay Waffle Co. – Eden on Bay

If you’re craving waffles for breakfast then you need to head to Big Bay and soon! As you have probably guessed from the name, the eatery specialises in waffles – both sweet and savoury. For breakfast try The Breakfast Stack (scrambled eggs, crispy back bacon, and caramelized cherry tomatoes – R45) or go all out and order the deliciously decadent Classic Leige Waffle (dusted with icing sugar – R29) with all the trimmings including honey (R6), grilled banana (R9), streaky bacon (R15), seasonal berries (R12) and whipped cream (R6) or vanilla gelato (R15).

6. Superette – Woodstock

This Woodstock eatery is famous for being chockful during breakfast time, so beat the rush and head through during brunch time instead. Try one of their most popular dishes on the menu and opt for the All-day Breakfast Sandwich (scrambled eggs served on sourdough rye with roasted baby tomatoes, bacon & lemon dressed greens – R60), Boiled Eggs and Soldiers (soft boiled eggs & soldiers served with lemon dressed greens – R45) or Homemade Cranberry Granola (served with yoghurt, nuts, seeds, honey & fresh fruit – R55).

7. Pulp Kitchen – Willowbridge

This quirky spot is a great place to go for breakfast or brunch. Their menu offers healthy delights and their shelves are packed with interesting local eats and treats for you to take home. Pop in for brunch and try their Bacon and Avo Open Sandwich (oven baked bacon and fresh avocado served on your choice of health, sourdough, or rye bread – R49), Gypsey Ham, Emmenthal and Wholegrain Mustard Croissant (R52) or the All-Day Brekkie Sandwich (oven baked bacon, mature cheddar cheese and egg on your choice of health, sourdough or rye bread – R57). 8Flatteur Cafe – Sea Point

This tiny French-inspired spot is a great place to grab a quiet breakfast at any time of the day. The eatery prides themselves on serving excellent coffee and we love that the spot is quiet and peaceful despite being on Sea Point Main Road. Their breakfast menu offers super affordable breakfast options including delights like the simple Eggs and Toast breakfast (2 eggs and toast – R28), Breakfast Wrap (egg, spinach, cherry tomotoes and feta – R45) and the Traditional Breakfast (2 eggs, mushrooms, bacon, a beef sausage, chips, toast and tomato relish – R59).

9. Ou Meul Bakkery – Willowbridge

The famous Ou Meul bakery has opened its doors in the northern suburbs of Cape Town and brings with it the most delicious fresh bakes in town. Pop in for breakfast until 13:00 every day and sample the Homemade Granola Muesli (with cinnamon, banana, honey, nuts, and yoghurt – R40), Scrambled Eggs and Crispy Bacon served on a croissant (R39), Eggs Benedict (poached eggs, spinach, Hollandaise sauce, and bacon served on sourdough – R69).

10. Empire Café – Muizenberg

This eatery regularly updates their chalkboard menu with new culinary delights but make sure you try the legendary Huevos Rancheros Tortilla (filled with two fried eggs, chilli beans and mince – R65).
