Meat lovers in Cape Town have no doubt heard about the wonder that it is Frankie Fenner Meat Merchants. Appropriately dubbed ‘Cape Town’s Ethical Butchery’ for taking steps to ensure their meat is sustainably sourced and that the entire animal is used, Frankie Fenner has become one of the city’s most popular butcheries with branches in Gardens, Woodstock and Claremont. The butchery has developed quite a following in the inner-city and southern suburbs of Cape Town and now Durbanville will finally meat its match with the opening of a brand new Frankie Fenner Meat Merchants branch in the northern suburbs of Cape Town!
Located at The Village Square shopping centre, the brand new Frankie Fenner Durbanville branch is sure to impress locals looking for top quality meat cuts with a sustainable edge. The new addition to the north will offer the same top-quality, ethical meat as its sibling stores but one thing is remarkably new: this new store will also boast the brand’s very first sit-down food menu!
With plans to launch a sit-down eatery concept in the not-so-distant future, Frankie Fenner Durbanville will offer carnivores a delicious menu designed by chef Travis Trubshaw and Andy Fenner. The menu will focus on nose-to-tail eating using fresh ingredients straight from the butcher. The exact details of the menu are yet to be revealed but the Frankie Fenner team has spilled a few tasty details.
Diners can expect unique concepts like a DIY bone broth station as well as doughnuts and popcorn cooked in beef fat. There will also be dishes like flank or sirloin tip prig rolls, perfectly balanced burgers, and classic salads like the traditional Caesar or proper Greek sans lettuce.
Frankie Fenner Durbanville has also applied for its liquor licence, which will allow for dinner seatings later in the year. In terms of retail, the butchery will continue to showcase their best grass-fed products from small, local independent farms.
