There’s no better way to celebrate summer than with a punnet of perfectly ripe, juicy cherries. Sure, you could buy your cherries from the supermarket, but where’s the fun in that? If you’re keen to pick your own deliciously sweet cherries this summer then head down to Klondyke Cherry Farm for a bountiful day of cherry-picking in the gorgeous Ceres Valley.

Located at the operational Klondyke Farm (which also grows apples and pears) this cherry-picking experience is one you don’t want to miss. Cherry picking season is open from the end of November until the end of December 2018, so make sure you pencil a day in your diary and treat yourself to a fruity day out!

The entrance fee for cherry-picking is R30 per adult and R15 per child (children under 5 are free) and includes a container which you can fill with freshly-picked fruit. Once you’re done hand picking your cherries, and you’ve filled your container take it to the cashier to be weighed and you will be charged R60 per kg of cherries picked.

Make a day of the trip by packing a picnic basket or bringing along some meat to braai at the dedicated braai area. Then simply enjoy the fruits of your labour!

Psst: If you arrive at the farm before 10:00, you’ll receive a R10 discount on entrance fee. Klondyke is open daily from 08:30 to 16:00.
