Yay, summer! The warmer weather has hit Cape Town and that means the much-loved summer staple outdoor movie experience, The Galileo Open Air Cinema, is back for another season! Watching a movie under the stars with blankets and popcorn and some yummy food just makes for the perfect summer night out with friends and loved ones, so make sure to give this a try if you haven’t already.

You’ll be spoilt for choice this year with movies showing all over Cape Town at places including the V&A Waterfront, Bloemendal Wine Estate, Kirstenbosch Gardens, Meerendal Wine Estate and The Castle of Good Hope. There’s also plenty of games, music, drinks and food options with something for everyone, so bring the whole family! Film buffs and outdoor enthusiasts can look forward to an excellent evening out with an awesome showcase of silver screen classics including Braveheart, Beauty and the Beast, Fame, Grease, Titanic, The Lion King and so, so much more!

Running from the 31st October to the end of April 2018, from Tuesday to Friday and selected weekends, doors open at 18:00 on weekdays, 17:00 on Saturdays and 16:00 on Sundays with the movie starting as soon as it gets dark. Come early to find the best spot and take in the vibe. You can even order your own picnic pack this year that you can pre-order from the website and pick up when you arrive.

Some highlights from this year’s lineup include; Grease at Kirstenbosch on Wednesday 01-November 2017, The Notebook at Bloemendal Wine Estate on Tuesday 21 November 2017, A Knight’s Tale at Castle of Good Hope on Friday 22 December, and Moulin Rouge at the Alphen Boutique Hotel on Friday 29 December 2017.

Tickets range from R89 for entry only, to R97 for entry plus a blanket, to R175 for the VIP experience. There’s even a Snuggle option at R320 per couple including blankets, chocolates, pillows and mattresses. Tickets sell out fast so early booking is essential!
