Here’s the low-down on Salt Therapy and why you should book a session for yourself and your bestie.

Salt Therapy is probably the simplest thing you can do at a spa and involves little more than you sitting back and putting your feet up. Also known as Halotherapy, Salt Therapy is a natural and non-invasive treatment, which makes use of the anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties of natural salt. To experience the treatment, the client throws on a robe and enters a chamber that is constructed with salt bricks and filled with salt-infused air. Once inside you simply take a seat and let the relaxation begin.

The healing properties of Salt Therapy were first discovered in the mid 19th century when a Polish physician at a salt mine noticed positive health effects on the miners. Among its many benefits, Salt Therapy can help to boost the immune system, speed up the metabolism, promote smoother skin, reduce exercise-induced inflammation and clear up allergies such as hay fever.

The Salt Therapy Room at Amani Spa is a hypo-bacterial and allergen-free environment, lined with salt wall tiles, which release micro-particles of salt while you sit inside the chamber. Each Salt Therapy session is 30 minutes long and during each session guests relax on comfortable loungers and passively breathe the salt-infused air. Think of it as taking a nap, with added benefits.

For best results, a course of 8 treatments on consecutive days or every second day is recommended. The cost for Salt Therapy at Amani Spa is R380 for 1 session and R2 430 for 8 sessions.
