While Joburg has been gleefully munching away on delicious bites, conveniently delivered to them by their friendly neighbourhood Uber driver, Capetonians have been experiencing some serious food envy. But, the wait is finally over as foodies in Cape Town can now get involved in all the UberEATS action and have some of the yummiest cuisine in Cape Town delivered to their door at the press of a button. Here’s how to take advantage of the new UberEATS service in Cape Town.
The new addition to the Cape Town food scene means that hungry customers in the Cape Town City Bowl, Camps Bay, the Atlantic Seaboard, Woodstock and Observatory can now look forward to getting their favourite meals at the tap of a button. Of course, more suburbs in Cape Town will launch over the coming months as well so keep an eye out to see when your area is added. For now, those living in the active areas can order from the likes of My Sugar, Societi Bistro, HQ, Nü, The Creamery, Gibson’s Gourmet Burgers & Ribs, Engruna Eatery, IYO, Crumbs and Cream and many more.
Ordering takeaways has never been this easy! UberEATS is an on-demand food delivery app powered by Uber and is designed to help customers get the food they want, delivered faster. Which means saying bye-bye to queues and long waits. UberEATS claims that ‘eaters’ shouldn’t have to wait longer than 45 minutes from order to delivery. The app also allows you to customise orders to your liking in the app and give feedback to the restaurant and Uber with no fuss at all. Users of the UberEATS app will be able to rate the service of both the restaurant and their food courier by using a ‘thumbs up’ or ‘thumbs down’ rating system after the food has arrived.
The ordering process is super easy – once you open the app simply tell them where to deliver, browse local restaurants or food types to select the dish you want, check out and pay with your card on file, and then wait for your food to arrive. You can also track your order through the app so you know when to expect it!
The UberEATS app can be downloaded on the app store or through the Uber rides app, as well as via the web at ubereats.com. Meals can be requested for delivery in the Cape Town City Bowl, Camps Bay, Atlantic Seaboard, Woodstock and Observatory from 10:00 to 22:00, seven days a week with a delivery fee of R20 and no minimum order size.
