Volvo Unveils Refreshed XC60 at International Polo Test at Val de Vie
Val de Vie set a striking scene this weekend as Volvo Car South Africa (VCSA) unveiled the refreshed XC60 at the long-awaited Standard Bank International Polo Test match. The event blended sport, culture, and design in a way that felt unmistakably modern and quintessentially South African.
As presenting partner, Volvo used the occasion to reintroduce its best-selling SUV in an environment that matched its spirit: elegant, energetic, and quietly confident. The refreshed XC60, now available in several new paint colours, including Mulberry Red (a rich, jewel-toned colour) and Forest Lake (an elegant grey-green shade), drew attention before the first chukka began.

The SUV’s redesigned front grille and fascia add a sharper, more sculpted look, while a larger, faster infotainment system brings seamless everyday convenience into the fold. At the rear, the XC60’s signature LED taillights have also been revised for a more contemporary look. These are subtle, sophisticated updates, perfectly aligned with Volvo’s design ethos.
The manicured polo lawns drew an equally polished guest list, with Volvo’s glitterati arriving in full force. Actress and fashion icon Jessica Nkosi, social media star Lasizwe, Miss South Africa 2023 Natasha Joubert, and many others, including Khaya Dlanga, Neo Nontso, and Tshepi Vundla, added an extra layer of glamour to the sidelines.

Guests enjoyed a carefully curated culinary experience as anticipation built for South Africa vs England, the first international polo test match in the Western Cape in 15 years. The match delivered its own headline moment, with the final score of 6-8 to South Africa, adding a sporting finish that matched the energy surrounding the XC60 launch.
“Bringing the refreshed XC60 to the International Polo Test made perfect sense,” commented Grant Locke, Managing Director of VCSA. “It’s a prestigious event that brings together people who appreciate style, design, and experiences that match a modern South African lifestyle. Guests were able to see and experience the new exterior elements, new paint colours, and the improved system up close.”
