There have been a few creatures-from-the-deep films in recent times, with 2019’s Crawl and 47 Meters Down: Uncaged reminding people why they should always be afraid to dip their toes in the water. But Underwater takes a sci-fi spin on the phobia, following a group of scientists on a drilling expedition at the bottom of the ocean who awaken some mysterious sea monsters. Directed by William Eubank (who helmed the brilliant yet underrated The Signal), the film also stars Kristen Stewart (TwilightCharlie’s Angles), TJ Miller (Deadpool), Vincent Cassel, John Gallagher Jr., and Jessica Henwick.

After winning 2 Golden Globe awards, the war-time epic 1917 is undoubtedly a must-watch this month. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Dean-Charles Chapman, and Mark Strong, the film follows two young British soldiers, Schofield and Blake, who are given a seemingly impossible mission. In a race against time, they must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers— Blake’s own brother among them.
