Beating the Signs of Ageing with Bionike Defence Elixage R3 [Review]
Ageing is inevitable, and with my birthday around the corner and coming to terms with being closer to 30 than 20, I can’t help but think about the future of my skin. With this newfound responsibility comes taking preventative action against ageing skin. Today, friends of the internet I come to reveal a great range of skincare products designed to assist with helping to slow down the signs of early ageing (such as fine lines, dull skin and a loss of firmness). Today I introduce to you the Defence Elixage R3 range from Bionike.
With getting older, it’s important to establish a more extensive skincare routine, because I hate to break it to you but after twenty-five, a simple bar of soap and face cloth just isn’t going to cut it anymore. What causes the skin to age? It’s s a multi-faceted process influenced by genetic, hormonal, and external environmental factors. But to put it simply, skin ageing occurs from a lack of nutrients in the body, smoking, stress, UV rays, and an unhealthy lifestyle. As we age the supporting structure of the skin changes as the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid decreases. The most evident signs of ageing skin are a dull skin tone, wrinkles and, especially, the loss of skin density.
For this range, Bionike has developed a series of products with the objective of countering these signs of ageing and based on the R3 formula, the products perform a triple anti-ageing action: Repair – Redensify – Renew. I got the chance to try the full range for a few weeks here are my thoughts on the products.
DEFENCE ELIXAGE HUILE SERUM R3Â REGENERATING OIL
This little bottle contains a powerful oil-based serum and just a few drops triggers a triple anti-ageing effect to counters loss of density in the skin and leave it feeling soft and hydrated. The serum contains a high concentration of GGP (a special active ingredient that Bionike says works on telomeres and counters cell ageing). The product has an oil-serum texture that melts into the skin when applied. I love the flowery-woody scent of this product and the fact that the fragrance is allergen- free. The Huile Serum is suitable specifically for oily to dry skin (score).
Application: Apply 3-4 drops onto face, neck and décolletage. You can also mix the product with your own face cream or with the Bionike Defence Elixage treatment cream (2 and 3) for maximum effect.

DEFENCE ELIXAGEÂ SATIN R3 SATIN REGENERATING CREAM
This little wonder is an extra silky treatment cream, which I apply both in the morning and at night- time. The treatment itself leaves my skin looking radiant and oh-so-youthful after applying. Featuring an alpine snow alga extract (which is said to strengthen skin defences) and GGP, this cream triggers the renewal of skin-supporting elements and counters loss of density. I love the lightweight, silky texture of this cream and it’s a great find for those with normal and combination skin.
Application: after cleansing skin, apply in the morning and evening on face, neck and décolletage. Combine with Defence Elixage Huile Sérum for enhanced effects.

DEFENCE ELIXAGEÂ VELOURS R3
I am currently using this nutri- regenerating cream as my day cream as I feel that its rich texture really protects my skin throughout the day. The Velour cream is specifically suited for dry skin so I love applying it straight after my morning cleanse. Featuring an alpine snow alga extract (which is said to strengthen skin defences) and GGP, this cream triggers the renewal of skin-supporting elements and counters loss of density. I love the rich and velvety texture of this cream and it’s a great find for those with dry and very dry skin.
Application: Apply in the morning and evening on face, neck and décolletage.

DEFENCE ELIXAGEÂ NUIT R3Â INTENSIVE NIGHT TREATMENT
What I love about this nourishing night treatment is how I can really feel this product treat my skin as I head to bed. It is no wonder that the contents of this little bottle are designed to regenerate and restore the skin overnight. I also love having the option of using this 2-in-1 treatment as a mask when I want to add a bit of extra nourishment to my skin. After wearing this product all night you’ll wake up with beautiful skin that looks and feels well rested. The product has a buttery texture that I absolutely love.
How to use: after cleansing skin, apply in the evening onto face, neck and décolletage. As a mask, apply a generous amount 2-3 times a week, massage and remove any residue with a paper tissue.

DEFENCE ELIXAGEÂ CONTOUR R3Â EYE-LIP BALM
Last but not least is the eye and lip balm. This balm is now included in both my morning and night-time skincare routines and my skin is loving me for it. The product melts into the skin when applied to delicate areas and is a great solution for those feel they need a little extra help around the delicate eye and lip areas. Enriched with nourishing vegetable lipids the product also offers an instantly-perceived filler effect.
How to use: use in the morning and evening by gently dabbing onto skin in the eye and lip contour areas.

If you’re looking for an affordable luxury skincare experience then you can’t go wrong with this range from Bionike. I have really enjoyed using these products over the past few weeks and feel that they are well priced for the results and the luxurious daily experience of using them.
