Here in Cape Town, we’re spoiled for choice with an array of food experiences to enjoy. And now, there’s one more great experiences to add to your list because Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate in Walker Bay has just launched their Sweet Senses chocolate and wine pairing experience.

A food journey that includes sweet, salty, sour, bitter and umami flavours, Sweet Senses aims to achieve the sublime balance between food and wine. Dedicated to sustainability, the experience is an ode to the environment and features a macaron, chocolate rock, and three different chocolates served on a dark chocolate, sea salt, nori, and olive crackling.

The pairing is made up of five tastings and starts with an ‘Ode to the Fynbos’ and sees a a dark green macaron served with apple ganache, fynbos jelly and dried pineapple, paired with the Benguela Cove Sauvignon Semillon 2016. Next up guests can enjoy the ‘Benguela boulder’ – a chocolate boulder served with Turkish apricots, hazelnuts and edible moss, accompanied by a glass of Benguela Cove Chardonnay 2016. We also love the sound of the ‘Savoury spells’ tastings which offers a periwinkle-shaped chocolate with a creamy ganache and olive cracking served with the Benguela Cove Syrah 2015.
