Deadly Dozen Confirms Cape Town Race in October

Deadly Dozen

Great news for fans of fitness racing in Cape Town; Deadly Dozen has confirmed a race date at a venue right in the heart of Cape Town. Founded in the UK in 2024, Deadly Dozen puts hybrid athletes through their paces with both track and functional fitness-based challenges designed to test physical endurance and strength. It’s the ultimate fitness test!

The race series has been building a loyal following of hybrid athletes in South Africa since the first local race took place in 2025. Now, Deadly Dozen is returning to the Green Point Athletic Stadium for a day of fitness and fun in the sun.

Deadly Dozen

Taking place in Cape Town on Saturday 17 October, Deadly Dozen offers an accessible race format that allows athletes to “train anywhere, race everywhere” with the race series being hosted at multiple venues across the country throughout the year.

What does the Deadly Dozen fitness race entail?

The main event format, combines 12x 400m track runs with 12 ‘Labours’ (exercise stations): 4800m of running, 320 reps of work.  The great thing about Deadly Dozen is the events are all set around athletics tracks to truly up the ante. The labours are designed to work fundamental movements, like squat, deadlift, lunge and press. The Labours only use bodyweight, kettlebell, dumbbell, and weight plate exercises.

This simple approach to the race setup makes training for race day incredibly accessible in any setting, whether in a gym, at home or outdoors. Ultimately, an individual could effectively train for the event with just a pair of kettlebells.

The ‘Labours’ include: Farmers Carry, Deadlift, Lunge, Snatch, Burpee Broad Jump, Goblet Squat, Front Carry, Push Press, Bear Crawl, Clean & Press, Overhead Carry, and Devil Press.

The innovative race concept is a natural fit for any hybrid athlete who is looking to fill their race calendar. Especially for those already training for a Hyrox race. Like Hyrox, Deadly Dozen is a fitness race that combines running and functional fitness, making it easier for fitness race enthusiasts to include both races in their event calendar for the year.
