Support Reach for a Dream & Rock Your Slippers on 11 May!
Winter is here but that doesn’t mean it’s time to lose your sense of fun and adventure! Yes indeed, it’s that special time of year again when South Africans join forces with Wimpy to don their most wacky and wild slippers in support of the incredible work done by Reach for a Dream. Friday 11 May 2018 is Slipper Day and we can’t wait to get comfy for a good cause.
Last year Wimpy managed to raise a whopping R1.4 million from the sales of Slipper Day bracelets in store and the Slipper Day campaign saw the popular restaurant give away 33 276 cups of free Famous Wimpy coffee to all who came through with their wristbands and slippers to Wimpy outlets.
“We were incredibly proud of how much we able to raise last year through the sale of Slipper Day wristband, but this year we want to aim a little higher. We challenge all South African’s to come out, buy their wristbands, rock their slippers on the 11 May and help us to raise even more money, to make the hopes and dreams of little ones across the country come true,” says Jacques Cronje Marketing Executive at Wimpy South Africa.
This year R10 buys you a Slipper Day Slipper wristband, which can be redeemed for a free a free Famous Wimpy Coffee on 11 May, and the right to rock your slippers all day long, in public.
Established in 1988, Reach for a Dream is one of South Africa’s most loved charities. The organisation makes dreams come true for children suffering from serious, often terminal, illnesses. Reach for a Dream has a special place in South African hearts because it gives children the gift of fun and adventure – joyful parts of life they are often denied due to their illness.
Through Reach for a Dream, hundreds of South African kids have been able to enjoy the simple things many of us take for granted, like birthday parties. They are also often given the chance to explore the extraordinary, by swimming with dolphins, for instance, or meeting their lifelong heroes.
