Good News for Those Who’re Looking to Import Goods from Abroad
It’s that time of year again when the festive season begins creeping up and you need to start considering gifts for family and friends, or perhaps you’re just looking at treating yourself with a little something special from overseas — Black Friday is on the way, after-all!
Well, as you know, trying to import things in or out of SA can be a nightmare, but we’ve got some good news for you.
Our friends over at Postbox Courier, who specialise in consumer goods in and out of SA, have announced that they have have introduced a minimum 250g weight break for items being brought in or going out of SA, which has in turn reduced prices!
So, what does it mean?
What this means is that the import costs for smaller, once-off items (perhaps a small gadget, makeup for your loved one, or a small item for a family member) will cost notably less to bring into SA, down from US$35 (around R465) to $22.50 (around R299) for items from the US and GBP14.99 (around R265) to GBP12.99 (around R230) for items from from the UK. That’s a 17.5% drop in charges from these two origins.
Also, if you’re thinking “No need, I have my own ways of getting things I need from abroad”, just have a look at the cost-breakdown table below highlighting that Postbox Courier’s rates are basically half the costs the others, and in many cases, quicker transit times; and there’s no sign-up fees:
Remember, signing up to Postbox Courier is free.
And if you’re not sure what the cost will be to import your specific goods? Email customersupport@postbox-courier.com and they can calculate how much you will have to pay in import charges if you send them a link to your wishlist – this will help you decide on whether or not to purchase. And if you’re ordering liquid items, make sure you to let them know so they can quote you accordingly.
