H&M’s first South African store opened its doors to the media and VIP shoppers in Cape Town last night, Thursday 16 October 2015 and WomenStuff was there to get the scoop on what you can expect in stores. From fabulous fashion for men, women and children to homeware, workout gear and more the new H&M Cape Town store at the V&A Waterfront is a winner of note! With 2 levels and 4700 square meters of absolute shopping pleasure this new store is set become a regular hot spot for fashionitas and decor enthusiasts over the coming weeks. From prices and stock here’s what you can expect in store at H&M Cape Town.
When you first walk into H&M Cape Town you’re struck by just how big it is (no seriously it’s huge!). The entire bottom level is dedicated to women’s wear and includes everything from casual wear (such as jeans, T-shirts, tank tops, skirts, fabulous flats, swimwear and more) to more formal attire including cocktail dresses and office wear. There’s also a huge lingerie section and sleepwear section as well as massive accessories and footwear section. Upstairs you will find the men’s wear, children’s clothing and homeware section (that’s right H&M homeware is here!). H&M have really gone all out with this store and it is set to become a massive shopping destination for locals looking for great quality clothes are affordable prices.
The thing that really struck me about the women’s wear in store was just how incredible the prints are! There are so many unique pieces in store that fashion foward ladies will love. In addition to the amazing prints there are also some fabulous pieces that are unlike anything we have available in SA at the moment. I felt like a kid in a candy store when I was shopping at H&M last night and I’m sure that when you visit you will too!
Ok, so let’s talk prices! I thought that H&M was going to do the same thing as Forever 21 and come in with insanely high prices that make you sweat and cry at the same time but no, the prices are actually very competitive. Obviously it depends on what you buy but there are some great bargains in store! I found a few super cute tank top style blouses at just R149 each, summer dresses at R149, short-shorts and T-shirts at R149 each, jeans at R229 and bras with matching panties at just R129 and R49 respectively.
Of course, there are few pricier things in store and you can look at at paying an average of R299 for blouses and shirts, R399 for cocktail dresses, R299 for sweaters, between R399 and R599 for jackets, R229 for handbags from, R299 for high heels, R299 for swimwear, and R229 for sportbras. Homeware item start from as little as R59 and I found some super pretty bathmats for R149, a cute pineapple storage tin for R89, tea cups and saucers at R89, MR & MRS bathroom glasses at R79 each, and the sweetest gold swan vases at R199.
H&M will open to the public at the V&A Waterfront at 10:00 on 17th October 2015.
