From the stages of London and Paris to Vegan and New York, Stomp has made international waves by making astounding music with simple everyday instruments like brooms, matchboxes, poles, chairs, sinks, basketballs, newspapers and hands and feet! The incredibly entertaining, internationally recognised show has wowed South African audiences in the past, and now, Stomp will head to our shores later this year for another spectacular run.
Opening at Joburg’s Montecasino’s Teatro on 13 August 2019, followed by Cape Town’s Artscape theatre on 11 September 201, Stomy is a must-watch for music and dance lovers. The show finds beauty and music in the mundane by transforming brooms into instruments and handicapping into conversation. It turns the clutter we see in everyday urban life into infectious rhythm.
Watch as 8 talented performers take the audience on a journey through sound by beating truck inner tubes, rubber hosing, Zippo lighters, plastic bags and tubs! Stomp’s exhilarating interactive trademark bins routine will feature as always, where metal trash cans are turned into crumbs and dustbin lids become shields. Your heart will pound as you dance to the beat of percussion and laugh at the comedy of it all.
Stomp has been touring the world for 26 years, enjoying long running productions of the show in New York, London, Paris, Las Vegas, Boston and San Francisco. At any given tine, there are up to 4 STOMP productions around the globe. This latest run in South Africa will see the show return to our shores after ten years.
Stomp will run at Montecasino’s Teatro from 13 August to 8 September 2019, and at Artscape Theatre from 11 September to 22 September 2019. Tickets are priced between R150 and R400 and are available from Computicket.
