1. Spend the night in with Barbie!

This week marks the launch of the Barbie in Rock ‘n Royals DVD so if you have a daughter that is Barbie mad or know of a Barbie fan, then get ready to raise your voice and dance the night away. In the new upbeat musical Barbie plays Princess Courtney. A mix-up sends her to Camp Pop and Erika, a famous rock star, to Camp Royalty. With a lot of determination and support from their friends, Princess Courtney and Erika achieve amazing things. The DVD will officially be released on 11 September and will be available at all leading retailers on the day of launch.

2. S.W.A.T Laser Tag

3. Traffic land

Kid’s Traffic-land in Balfour Park offers a unique way for kids to learn traffic rules and have some fun while at it. Guides dress as police officers to teach road rules as kids drive around in their battery-operated cars. For kids aged 9 and above, Xtreme Indoor Go-karting is where they can break the speed limits, safely of course!

4. Wild Cave Adventures

For kids who are into ‘Batman’ or even the ‘Twilight Zone’, the Wild Cave Adventures at the Cradle of Human Kind can be an unforgettable experience. The 1.5-hour guided excursion through the 4 400sqm cave will leave kids and teens completely amazed.

5. Montecasino Bird Garden

The Montecasino Bird Garden is a great place for families with young children to enjoy a fun day out. Kids can feed the beautiful and tame Rainbow Lorikeets and watch the Macaws and Cockatoos roam freely in the Parrot Gallery. The Bird Garden also conducts educational and entertaining bird shows throughout the week.

6. Jozi X

Located in Bryanston, Jozi X is designed to give everyone aged 5 to 75 an adrenaline rush like never before. The activities at the adventure centre include mountain boarding, slacklining, jungle swings and trapeze, and the awesome ‘Face Offz’ where you try to knock your friend off a 4m high beam!

7. Johannesburg Zoo

Suitable for children of all ages, the Johannesburg Zoo gives kids the chance to admire 320 over species of animals. The Zoo houses everything from the Big 5 to record holding animals like the Fennec Fox – the smallest canid; and the Andean Condor – the largest predatory bird.

8. Acrobranch

It’s fast, it’s fun, and it’s the perfect adventure for the whole family. Acrobranch is an adventure through the treetops with zip lines, swing bridges and Tarzan swings. 9. A-Maize-ing Mazes

The Honeydew A-Maize-ing Mazes has been around for over a decade which is a testament to their popularity. People entering the maze have to use their powers of navigation (or just plain guessing) to find their way out. The main attractions are the Elemental maze constructed from reeds (open from June to December) and the Maize Maze (open from February to June.)

10. Gold Reef City Theme Park

The world famous, yet uniquely South African Gold Reef City Theme Park has got something for everyone. The park is known for its thrilling rides where you are propelled at frightening speeds! Adrenaline junkies are sure to find what they’re looking for. The park also has an animal petting zoo, a 4D theatre, and a Putt-Putt course.
