Lou Harvey, SA’s homegrown designer and decorator, has just unveiled her new collection of designs, a collection that is uplifting and colourful, and best of all, proudly South African and 100% locally manufactured.
Lou says her desire is simple; to bring beauty and colour to our everyday lives. “I wanted my new range to be uplifting, evoke happiness and ensure that cheerfulness takes centre stage — particularly after all went through last year,” explains Lou.
Pantone recently announced Illuminating (a zingy yellow tone) as one of their shades of the year, together with Ultimate Grey, and described it as a practical and solid combination that is also warm and optimistic giving us resilience and hope for the year ahead. “That’s why I am obsessed with my new Zalica Yellow design, a cheerful pop of colour that gives a sense of courage and inspiration,” says Lou.
The new designs include the iconic paisleys and florals loved by all Lou Harvey fans. “I did a lot of research into design and colour trends during lockdown. “Spending time outside and in nature with my family also really inspired me and the pretty Lilac Meadow Floral design is the epitome of blooming summer gardens and reminds us of brighter days ahead,” says Lou.
The best-selling Leopard Lou print is here to stay and this bestseller is a popular classic along with the Versace and Retro Stripes. Dark Snake is something a little unusual, a trend that is predicted to have its moment this season, and not forgetting the boys, there’s Camouflage Green.
But it’s the eye-catching Bird Stamp design that is something completely different and totally inspired by Lou’s love for globe-trotting and vivid colourways. This vintage-inspired print features exotic birds in postage stamp patterns and is a pleasant reminder of Lou’s recent trip to Australia, where these magnificent indigenous birds fly free.
As always the choice is endless, from pack bags to overnight bags, coolers, lunchboxes, wallets, laptop bags and cosmetic bags and even mousepads.
