MyMassage Makes Regular Massage Treatments Convenient & Affordable! [Review]
After years of working as an Editor and writer for…
There’s no denying that visiting a spa is one of life’s best pleasures but sometimes all you want is a great massage without all the pomp and circumstance. Visiting a day spa with hydro facilities and the works is wonderful when you have the time to enjoy it all but if you’re interested in getting regular in-and-out massage treatments that easily fit into your busy schedule, then paying a premium for all the bells and whistles that come along with a spa visit just isn’t practical. Which is why I’m so excited about a new addition to the Cape Town beauty scene, MyMassage! These clever sausages believe that massage treatments are essential to maintaining one’s health and wellbeing so they should be routinely accessible and affordable. By offering clients, a beautiful, yet minimalist studio space where they can enjoy regular massages at wallet-friendly prices, MyMassage is changing the way Capetonians think about massage therapy.
Anyone who has ever been for a great massage will tell you that massage therapy is one of the most effective ways to reduce stress, managing chronic pain, deal with athletic fatigue, or even decrease the risk of injury. So why don’t we treat ourselves more often and make time for regular massage therapy? Budget constraints often mean that many people just can’t afford a monthly massage but hopefully a solution like MyMassage can help change that!
Located in Green Point, the massage studio offers a wide range of massage treatment options including full-body, deep tissue, couples, back/neck & shoulder, as well as reflexology massages. Clients can book a massage online and choose between a 30, 60 or 90-minute massage, making it easy to customise your treatment to suit your budget and your schedule. But don’t for a second think MyMassage is a cheap, low-budget option. You will still be pampered to the max at this cosy massage haven. MyMassage doesn’t compromise on quality and you will still enjoy the same impeccable attention to detail that you would find at a top-notch spa. Clients are pampered with high-end amenities, organic oils, wide massage beds, and Egyptian cotton linen.
I popped into MyMassage for a 60-minute back/neck & shoulder massage and it was pure heaven! The session started with a quick consultation with my assigned massage therapist, Melisa and then it was down to business. The great thing about MyMassage is that your sessions can be customised to suit your specific stress or muscle relief needs and you can ask your therapist to adjust the level of pressure or even spend more time on the areas where you need it most. I asked Melisa to concentrate mostly on my shoulders and upper back and by the end of the hour she had managed to melt away all my stubborn knots and left me feeling rejuvenated and de-stressed.
I’m all for a fancy-pants spa every now and then but MyMassage gave me everything I wanted from a massage experience. Not only was Melisa a serious whizz with her hands (no really, it was one of the best massage I’ve ever had!) but everything from the luxurious decor of the tiny studio to the blissful music being pipped through the speakers helped to create the same calming, tranquil environment you would expect from a luxury day spa experience. The marshmallow soft, extra large massage beds at this studio definitely also deserve a special mention as it adds such a real element of luxury to the treatment — I’ve been to some truly exceptional spas where treatments are charged at a premium and yet they don’t have beds this comfy!
If you’re a busy city gal with scant time for luxuries like spa days then MyMassage will surely become your new favourite thing. The convenience of being able to book online and just pop in for a quick lunch-time massage before heading back to the hustle and bustle of the city centre really appeals to the Millennial in me and definitely makes juggling time for a pamper session far easier to manage!
Booking a massage at MyMassage is easy. Simply visit the MyMassage website to choose your preferred massage therapist, a time slot that suits you, and the treatment of your choice. A 30-minute massage is priced at R300, 60-minute at R500, and 90-minute at R700. The studio also offers some great special offers on a regular basis so keep an eye out on the website for promotions to help you save even more. Right now, new and existing clients can enjoy 10% off when buying a 3 massage package (pay only R450 per 1-hour massage) or 25% off when buying a 10 massage package (pay only R375 per 1-hour massage).
