The South African smartphone market is getting even more diverse with the launch of Tecno Mobile’s Spark 7 and Spark 7 devices.
TECNO SPARK 7 & SPARK 7 PRO
Tecno’s Spark 7 devices feature some similarities with each other, but the Spark 7 Pro features a few higher-end premium elements to give it a little edge, and while the Tecno Spark 7 is the little brother of the Spark 7 Pro, it doesn’t shy away from delivering some notable specs and features.
The Spark 7 features a 6.5-inch HD+ display, 64GB on-board memory, and a 16MP dual-lens camera set-up. There is also a 8MP selfie camera on the front of the device.
The chipset in the Spark 7 is a MediaTek Helio A25 octa-core CPU, and runs on Android 11 using Tecno’s HIOS 7.5 variation with 3GBs of RAM. It also houses a notably large 6,000mAh battery.
The Tecno Spark 7 is priced at R1,999.
The Spark 7 Pro boasts a 48MP Clear Triple Camera and the new Helio G80 chipset, all showcased on a little-larger 6.6-inch edge-to-edge display running on Android 11 using Tecno’s HIOS 7.5 variation.
The Spark 7 Pro’s display features a 90Hz refresh rate, a 5,000mAh battery, and comes in 3 variants: 128+4GB / 64+6GB / 64+4GB
The Tecno Spark 7 Pro is priced at R3,499.
While the series launches on 16 September, it will be available for sale from 1 October, according to Tecno.
In the meantime, the company is running a competition that gives locals a chance to win a Spark 7 smartphone. Locals have been challenged to spell out “Spark 7” using any objects found at home or work. They must then share a picture of their creation on Facebook, tag @TECNOMobileSouthAfrica, and include the hashtags #AllYouNeedIsSPARK and #TECNOMobileZA.
