Entrepreneur, Tina Roselt, recently set her sights on taking the Pony-O brand to new heights as she took on the task of becoming Southern Africa’s Distributor and Owner.
She talks to Womenstuff about her life as an entrepreneur, as well as this exciting brand.
What drew you to the Pony-O brand and ideally, to the idea of buying into such a brand?
I had seen the amazing marketing and advertising of Pony-O in early 2020 and was absolutely in love with the concept. The versatility and wide range of colours and designs. A hair accessory that is able to give you a voluminous ponytail with no damage or breakage. Pony-O, although older in concept than the common scrunchie, is the new direction hair accessories will go. To be part of this concept coming to fruition is an absolute dream. It does what we say it does. Pony-O is the McLaren of hair accessories.
What do you love most about the brand?
Its fun! It’s eye catching and out of the ordinary.
Describe your perfect Pony-O customer?
Someone willing to learn a new skill. The Pony-O technique takes practice and practice makes perfect.
As a businesswoman, where do you draw daily inspiration from?
The desire to show my girls in particular, that it is possible to be a present, involved, loving mother and have a fulfilling career.
What do you enjoy most about being an entrepreneur and businesswomen?
Being able to bring my own creative ideas to an already established brand. The sense of purpose and fulfillment it brings me that what I am doing has an impact.
What advice would you give entrepreneurs in SA when facing hardships and challenges?
I would tell them that hardships and challenges are guaranteed and it’s still good! You are capable beyond your own understanding and if you can believe that of yourself, nothing can stop you.
With so much of business having gone digital, how do you remain unique and on top of trends?
I feel like this is something that is easily attainable for Pony-O SA. Our biggest platform is social media so from that perspective we find inspiration from what is trending on Reels or Tik Tok and make it our own.
Because Pony-O is already an established brand we are fortunate enough to be able to take full advantage of this and in so doing use it to our benefit.
What has been one of the greatest highlights in your Pony-O career to date and why?
At this point the greatest highlight was having the face of Pony-O, Shannon Hill, watch my first ever live on Instagram last year and have her full support.
