Amazing Hotels in Joburg You Need to Visit!
After years of working as an Editor and writer for…
After three years of living in Joburg I have come across my fair share of beautiful, outrageously cool and quirky hotels in the city. However if you don’t know Joburg well then choosing a place to stay when visiting the city can be a nightmare of note. But how do you go about choosing the perfect accommodation in Johannesburg, especially when there are so many options available? It’s easy, simply check out my list of amazing hotels in Joburg you to need to visit next time you’re in the City of Gold.
1. Morrells Boutique Hotel and Venue:
This French-inspired boutique hotel in Northcliff is by far one of my most favourite hotels in Joburg. It’s quint, drop dead gorgeously decorated and offers some of the most delicious hotel food around. If you love all things pretty and vintage then this is the place for you. Morrells offers two accommodation options – the Manor House and the Boutique Hotel. They are just a stone’s throw away from each other and they each have their own unique vintage charm about them. Stay at the boutique hotel and venue and you can have breakfast at Morrells’ Bistro while watching the chickens bob around the premises. Because of its beyond beautiful setting, Morrells is also super popular for weddings and private functions.
With just sixteen bedrooms, The Peech Hotel in Melrose is as boutique as they come! The original part of the property (the main house) has two ‘House Rooms’ while the remaining rooms are spread around the hotel’s lush gardens as ‘Garden Rooms’ and the larger ‘Garden Suites’. With beautifully quirky decor and a serene, home-style setting this Joburg hotel is a definite must-visit for travelers who dislike big hotels.
3. Radisson Blu Gautrain Hotel:
If it’s convenience you want then you’ll get it at the super cool Radisson Blu Gautrain Hotel. Located in the heart of Sandton, the hotel offers guests easy proximity to the Gautrain, Sandton CBD and, of course Sandton City. With it’s fabulous food, incredible views of Sandton and surrounds and modern decor this a must-visit spot for travelers who want to be in the thick of it all. Make sure you also check out their roof top pool deck during the summer months – with sushi specials, live DJs and more it’s a great place to hang out before hitting the hay.
4. Burkleigh House Guesthouse:
Located in the heart of suburbia, Burkleigh House is a hidden gem of note. The vintage inspired guesthouse in Randburg offers guests luxury 4-star bed and breakfast-style accommodation at its finest. The spot offers five uniquely furnished en-suite bedrooms, each wonderfully decorated with the most incredible antique Victorian and Cape Dutch furniture. Guests can also make use of the huge garden, the swimming pool and the intimate dining and lounge areas. They are also well known for their beautiful high teas and for hosting incredible kitchen teas and private dinners.
