Adidas Follows Adizero Dropset Elite with a Hybrid Fitness Racing Shoe for the Rest of Us

Adidas

Adidas has announced the launch of the Adizero Dropset Pro, a new hybrid training shoe in the Adizero Dropset franchise, engineered for athletes who refuse to choose between speed and strength. Built for the full demands of hybrid performance, it supports athletes at all levels, from training through to race day.

Launching in Stockholm, the Adizero Dropset Pro will be worn by Adidas athletes competing at the HYROX World Championships, bringing the shoe into one of the sport’s most competitive environments – a global stage for hybrid fitness racing.

Fusing the fast-focused innovation of Adizero with the stability-led DNA of Dropset, the new Pro silhouette is designed to deliver the balance of speed, control and grip required for hybrid training. From treadmill intervals to sled pushes, weighted lunges, farmer’s carries and wall balls, Adidas says the shoe is engineered to help athletes stay light on their feet when it is time to move fast and locked in when it is time to hold their ground.

The Adizero Dropset Pro follows the earlier launch of the Adizero Dropset Elite, Adidas’ hybrid racing shoe designed with and for elite hybrid competitors. While the Elite is built for the sharpest end of hybrid racing, alongside HYROX World Champion Tim Wenisch, the Adizero Dropset Pro, tested with hybrid athletes Graham Halliday and Fabian Eisenlauer, brings the same mindset to everyday training for athletes at all levels as the go-to shoe for training and competition preparation. Built for every session, every start line and every athlete chasing progress in their races, it cements Adizero Dropset as a dedicated hybrid performance franchise.

Hybrid training has created a new generation of athletes: runners who lift, lifters who run, and competitors who move from cardio to functional strength in a single session. Adidas asked hybrid athletes around the world what limits and enhances their training performance, and new research* reveals nearly half (49%) say their current training footwear limits performance during their workout.

A further 4 in 5 hybrid athletes say they expect their footwear to support every part of their workout but more than a third say they have not found a single pair of shoes that works across every exercise in their training.

“Hybrid athletes are redefining what performance looks like,” said Bernhard Serr, VP of Product at Adidas Training. “Athletes are no longer training in one lane, and their footwear needs to evolve with that shift. At adidas, we are committed to advancing training through deeper collaboration with elite athletes and the wider hybrid community – listening, testing and innovating to meet the real demands of the sport. The Adizero Dropset franchise reflects that commitment, supporting athletes from preparation through to competition, with Adizero Dropset Pro built for the full demands of hybrid training.”

  • Lightstrike Pro foam: As seen across the speed-focused Adizero range, Lightstrike Pro provides
super-light cushioning and energy return to support a responsive performance experience
when athletes are pushing the pace.
  • Energy rods: Designed to support a smooth and fast heel-to-toe transition with their tuned
stiffness aiding propulsion that provides an enhanced push off.
  • Lighttraxion: A lightweight traction system designed to reduce weight without sacrificing grip
to help athletes stay fast on their feet.
  • Continental rubber: Engineered to deliver confident traction in both wet and dry conditions,
helping athletes stay stable through every step, rep and transition.

The Adizero Dropset Pro has been created for athletes who train across disciplines and need footwear that works as hard as they do. According to Adidas, the shoe reflects the brand’s wider commitment to hybrid performance, from preparation through to competition, supporting athletes and activating the community, plus following the brand’s long-term partnership with ATHX – its official hybrid competition partner.

The Adizero Dropset Pro will be available from 17th June via https://www.adidas.com/training-shoes. South African pricing is yet to be announced but the shoe is available in the US at $150.
