Africa’s Largest Waterpark has Opened in Joburg: Here are the Details
Dreams really do come true. Yes indeed, Johannesburg is now the proud home of a new water park! The largest in Africa, Happy Island Waterworld is a water baby’s paradise and promises to be fun for both young and old. A trip fit for the whole family, Happy Island Waterworld has a variety of exhilarating waterslides and swimming pools to try out, making it the perfect day out! But the good news doesn’t stop there. This exciting new water park also features the first Typhoon slide in Africa — spiral downwards to your doom in the shape of a literal typhoon!
Located in Muldersdrift, the park has 11 slides that will see adrenaline junkies sprinting back to the start for more, including The Gravity Loop, Spiral Slide, High-Speed Slide and the four-man Behemoth Bowl. It also boasts the two largest wave pools in Africa, created to simulate ocean-like waves so you’ll feel like you’re in the surf! Little ones will love the Fun Slides, Amazon Rainforest, Spray Park, Boome Rango and the Lazy River.
Upon arrival visitors can purchase a cashless waterproof wrist band for R20 on which load money for food, drinks, tube rentals and other features. Locker facilities are also available for safekeeping of your personal belongings and you can use your wristbands to access them. After working up an appetite around the park, enjoy a selection of food vendors or browse the park’s convenience store for a snack.
The park ensures safety of its visitors with medics onsite every day, as well as registered paramedics and a medical centre should the need arise. Full-time security personnel are stationed around Happy Island and camera are installed throughout to ensure a worry-free experience.
