Finding the right pair of shoes for travelling can be tough. On the one hand, you want something comfortable enough to get you through traipsing across the airport as well as a full day of sightseeing when you arrive at your destination but on the other, you don’t want your shoes to scream “I’m a tourist!” Most of us also don’t have the luxury of carrying around an entire bag filled with shoes so the shoes you pick for your travels also need to be versatile enough to wear with different outfits. So what’s a girl to do? The answer is Green Cross.
No longer just your gran’s shoe store, these days Green Cross is bringing South African women on-trend styles that they’re just dying to wear and much to my excitement I’ve discovered that their metallic sneakers are indeed my ultimate travel shoe! Cushy, supportive, versatile, and oh-so-stylish, these little puppies will take you just about anywhere.
I’m off to Thailand at the beginning of June this year and have been testing out these Green Cross sneakers for a little while now to see if they would be the shoe of choice to get me through a 6-hour layover in Doha as well as a day spent exploring Thai temples or scouring the shopping malls. Walking is, without a doubt, one of the best ways to take in a new city but there’s no quicker way to shatter the magic of an immersive cultural experience than an uncomfortable pair of shoes. After sporting these Green Cross sneakers on a few local trips to Joburg and even a road trip or two I’m quite confident that I have found the holy grail of travel shoes.
I’m a ‘jeans and T-shirt’ kind of gal, especially when travelling, but I also like to look nice when I travel and with these Green Cross shoes I can throw the comfort versus style argument out the window. The metallic finish of the sneakers makes them super versatile – they look great when worn with jeans and a T-shirt but can also be dressed up with a nice blouse or even a skirt for a night out on the town. I’ve tried and tested them with loads of outfits I’ll be taking on my trip and to be honest I’m just excited I won’t have to crop a large majority of my holiday photos from the ankles up.
But, besides being super cute, what makes these sneakers better than any other for travelling? Made with tumbled metallic leather these wonders from Green Cross are super soft from the very first time you wear them and the addition of a padded collar and tongue makes these shoes feel like they are hugging your feet!
But the real magic of these shoes lies in the Aerosole footbed. The shoes have a memory foam footbed that contours to your foot to offer incomparable softness and comfort. The heel cradle provides stability for every step and you legitimately feel like you’re walking on a cloud when you wear them – a super supportive cloud! The shoe also features heel rest technology which means the shoe distributes the weight towards your heel and away from the ball of your feet, making standing for long periods or walking long distances an absolute breeze!
These Green Cross metallic sneakers are available in two colours (gold and pewter) – both are oh-so-pretty and easy to incorporate into any wardrobe. I can’t recommend these shoes enough and after such a fabulous experience with these sneakers, I’m now looking into investing in a pair of high heels from Green Gross too!
Find them at a Green Cross store near you or buy them online via the Green Cross website for R1429.
