The Best Way to Experience the Majesty of Cape Point? Hop On an Electric Bike with Cape Point E-Bike Tours

Cape Point eBike Tours

0I’ve visited Cape Point Nature Reserve many times, but this most recent visit has been my favourite yet. Mostly because it gave me the chance to see Cape Point from an entirely new perspective. I’ve driven through the reserve in a car and walked the trails to explore it on foot, but who knew it would take hopping on an e-bike to truly appreciate the majesty of one of my favourite places in South Africa. If a visit to Cape Point Nature Reserve is on your bucket list, there’s no better way to experience one of South Africa’s most iconic destinations than a jaunt with Cape Point E-Bike Tours.

A new member of Cape Country Routes’ Activities portfolio Cape Point E-Bike Tours offers a premium, all-inclusive way to explore the spectacular Cape Point Nature Reserve and visit the most south-western point of Africa. The guided adventure is an exhilarating activity for both adults and children alike (provided they meet the age requirement).

The best way to see Cape Point

This excursion with Cape Point E-Bike Tours was one of the best things I’ve done all year. I didn’t expect to love this activity as much as I did. Exploring the reserve on a bike is probably one of the best ways to appreciate the majesty of the place. With the African sun warming your face, the wind blowing in your hair, and fresh ocean air filling your lungs you get a strong sense of being deeply connected to the fauna and flaura. Everything at Cape Point is better from behind the handle bars of a bike — the breathtaking panoramic views, the bokkies scurrying past, the indigenous flowers in full bloom.

Guests can expect to be spoiled with incredible views and beautiful scenery inside the reserve.

Besides the unmatched beauty inside the reserve, it was our guide that made the experience something truly exceptional. You’re not simply riding a bike through a beautiful reserve, along the way you’ll learn about the wildlife, plantlife, and history of Cape Point with your guide pointing out sights and sounds you might otherwise have missed on an unguided excursion.

Historically, cycling isn’t my favourite activity. I’d love to bore you with a long sob story about an ill-fated winelands bike tour, but for the sake of brevity, let’s just say there was an incident with a very steep downhill on a gravel road and cycling with bloody, stone-infused hands is not my idea of a fun time. It goes without saying that I’m not the most confident bike rider (fear of another injury will have that affect on you), but I felt so at ease on the fat-tyre bikes at Cape Point E-Bike Tours.

The battery-powered boosted bikes are suitable for all fitness levels and families.

These bikes are such a pleasure to ride. I’ve had plenty of e-bike experiences before, but this tour with Cape Point E-Bike Tours was my favourite one to date. Our guide made us all feel so at ease and my bike felt stable, lightweight, and so easy to ride. I’m usually very nervous around traffic when I’m on a bike, but I didn’t feel unnerved by the cars you share the road with inside the reserve or on the road to and from Cape Point Farmstall, where the tour begins and ends.

The battery power boosted bikes are suitable for all fitness levels and families, so much so that even a 4-hour tour on the bike didn’t feel overly taxing. While other e-bikes I’ve used in the past felt heavy and at times complicated to ride, the bikes in the fleet used by Cape Point E-Bike Tours are very easy to use. The bikes offer quiet pedal-assist power that turn steep climbs into effortless fun and keeping up with the group is as easy as pressing a button. Having this power underfoot enables riders to really immerse themselves in the experience and take in the beauty of their surroundings.
