Ladies, it’s time to start savouring precious moments of ‘me-time’. Dove has launched a brand new, luxurious range that is perfect for at-home pampering on a budget. The new Dove DermaSpa Hand and Body range offers women an innovative collection of hand and body products that will not only give them that spa feeling at home but that is also a sumptuous treat for the skin. Working with leading skin and beauty experts from around the world, Dove has created the brand’s most scientifically-advanced body care products to date.
The Dove DermaSpa range is dermatologically tested, suitable for sensitive skin and is the budget-friendly answer to treating yourself at home. The new range was created by transferring the moisturising technology from Dove’s facial skin care to body care. The Cell-Moisturisers (a complex made up of key moisturising actives compressed from natural seed oils such as sea buckthorn oil) in the Dove DermaSpa range are one of the most advanced innovations Dove has introduced in a body care range. Dove says this new technology is specifically designed to help achieve a more even looking skin tone and to offer exceptional moisturisation to help strengthen and protect the body’s natural skin barrier.
The range also features elastomer technology to help deliver that silky skin feeling of more high-end luxury brands and act as a skin protectant. The Dove DermaSpa range includes four luxurious collections, each designed for different skin types, stages and pampering desires. The range includes the Goodness³ range (with the Goodness³ Body Lotion, Goodness³ Body Oil, and Goodness³ Body Cream), Uplifted+ range (with the Uplifted+ Body Lotion and Uplifted+ Massaging Body Roll-On), Cashmere Comfort range (with the Cashmere Comfort Body Lotion, Cashmere Comfort Body Butter, and Cashmere Comfort Hand Treatment), and the Summer Revived range (with the Summer Revived Body Lotion). For an extra hint of opulence, each collection also has its own subtle scent, developed in collaboration with Ann Gottlieb, global fragrance expert and consultant to some of the world’s most esteemed beauty houses.
If you’ve got dry skin then you’ll love the Dove DermaSpa Goodness³ Body Lotion (R89.99, 200ml). The products in the Goodness³ range combine omega oil with Cell-Moisturisers to help replenish the skin’s barrier and leave the skin full of moisture. This stunning body lotion is fast absorbing and beautifully nourishing on the skin. It has quite a thick consistency but it doesn’t sit on the skin for too long and absorbs in seconds (just remember a little goes a long way with this lotion!). This lotion leaves my skin feeling silky soft whenever I use it and it’s a great treat for the skin in winter. I also love the slightly sweet coconut and vanilla fragrance of this lotion, it’s not too overpowering but lasts a long time on the skin.
If you’re more of a body oil kind of lass, then you’ll want to try the Dove DermaSpa Goodness³ Body Oil (R132.95, 150ml). This silky body oil leaves the skin feeling velvety soft with a luminous glow. At such an affordable price point and with such great results I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s right up there with some of the best body oils I have ever used. It absorbs into the skin beautifully with no greasy residue on the surface of the skin, smells divine, and leaves the prettiest sheen on the skin leaving it looking flawless rather than overly shimmery.
Another great lotion in the range is the Dove DermaSpa Uplifted+ Body Lotion (R89.99, 200ml). The Uplifted+ range is perfect for all skin types and contains key ingredients for restoring elasticity and firmness in the skin. The body lotion in this range is ideal for targeting those dreaded cellulite areas. This lotion has a lighter consistency than the Goodness3 version and glides effortlessly onto the skin leaving it feeling smooth and pampered. It also absorbs super quickly so it’s a great after-shower treat and I did feel a little bit of an instant lift in my skin after applying. The products in this range have an exquisitely fresh fragrance of dancing water-lilies and cucumber which offer a much-needed pick-me-up in the mornings!
Perhaps my favourite product of the entire DermaSpa range is the Dove DermaSpa Uplifted+ Body Roll-On serum (R129.99, 100ml). This nifty little product is a budget-conscious gal’s dream come true. The product features a unique roller ball applicator to help firm up challenging, harder-to-reach areas. The freshness of this satin-like gel revitalises the skin and gives you that at-home massage feeling. It’s super moisturising and the massaging action of the roller ball helps to give you a bit of a lift where you need it most. I also found it to be a great after-gym treat on tired muscles, the three little massaging balls allow you to give sore areas a gentle massage while the gel offers a cooling sensation for tired muscles.
If your skin really struggles in winter then you’ll want to reach for the Cashmere Comfort range which has been formulated for very dry skin. I love using the Cashmere Comfort Body Butter (R132.95, 300ml) as an indulgent, treat before bed. This rich body butter is quite thick in consistency but also absorbs into the skin quite quickly considering how creamy it is. The product leaves skin feeling incredibly smooth, soft, and nourished after application and it’s a great product for those who live in super dry areas like Johannesburg. I would recommend you only use it on the driest parts of your body as it is super nourishing. I love the creamy vanilla and sensual amber scent of this product – once again it’s not too overpowering so it won’t ruin your favourite perfume but it strong enough to last on the skin for ages.
