A new section on the beach boasts luxurious daybeds where you and your ladies can sit back, with a cocktail in one hand and a snack in the other, and enjoy the beautiful sea views. This glamorous corner of the beach can be booked out for private events, such as birthday parties or hen nights, and is a great spot to host an intimate girls’ day or night with friends. Another oh-so-fabulous intimate corner of The Grand is the new Absolut Elyx bar – this sophisticated new space offers guests the ideal spot for a private, pre-dinner aperitif or an all-night blow-out with the girls.
Cheers to good times
Of course, you don’t need a special occasion to hang out with your favourite girlfriends. Head to Grand Beach for a day or night out and cheers to good times at the stylish Pongracz sparkling wine and cocktail bar or pull up a chair and watch as the expert mixologists craft a signature cocktail right before your eyes. Acclaimed mixologist, Kurt Schlechter, has been brought on board to update the expansive cocktail menu, crafting new signature cocktails and tweaking the classics. For their cocktails, all juices are squeezed fresh at the bar, while all-natural cocktail syrups from local producer, Nettari, bring fresh flavours to classic cocktails. If you’re not sure what to try first then try the new and oh-so-delicious rum-based Grand African Tiki. This unique cocktail, served in a bespoke tiki mug, blends Havana Especial & 7, Malibu, mango, mint, thyme and coconut for a memorable taste experience.
And, as if that isn’t enough, there are also a wide range of local wines available to enjoy by the bottle or glass. Plus, a partnership with G.H. Mumm Champagne will make Grand Africa Café & Beach one of the few local restaurants to serve French bubbly by the glass. It doesn’t get more fabulous than that!
Ladies who lunch
If you’re the type of ladies who lunch, then the main Grand Beach restaurant still remains the ideal choice. Even though the restaurant area has undergone a makeover it still retains the feet-in-the-sand charm and casual-chic appeal it has always enjoyed. This makes it a great choice for a birthday dinner, a kitchen tea, or a casual ladies lunch with friends. The main restaurant is the type of place where an early lunch turns into afternoon drinks and ultimately sundowners by the sea, making it a great place for friends to reconnect and unwind together.
And, with the new look comes a new menu, and Head Chef Dominic Faict has crafted a wide-ranging menu combining signature Grand dishes with new Mediterranean-inspired plates. The wonderful beach setting lends itself to light meals, fresh flavours, and of course, plenty of seafood. That could mean a generous pot of West Coast mussels steamed in a fragrant coconut broth, or a Cajun-spiced linefish tagliata. Generous cuts of steaks off the grill will keep the hungry happy, while the compact sushi menu is the perfect fit for the sunny seaside setting.
Dance the night away
And, if you really don’t want to leave then stay for dinner and settle in with one of their signature cocktails while the DJs warm up the decks for a night of dancing in the sand.
