Honey and Ginger Wings

The WomenStuff team is OBSESSED with chicken wings (deep friend, over-roasted and marinated we love them all) so when local celeb, Katlego “Kat” Mohoaduba offered to share her recipe for delicious, sticky Honey and Ginger Wings with us we jumped at the chance to share it with all of you! Kat made a name for herself as a housemate on the popular reality show, Big Brother Mzansi Season 3 2014 and now she is making our mouths water with this yummy recipe!

Honey & Ginger Wings

Preparation: 10 mins
Cook: 1 hour

Ingredients:

1.5kg Chicken wings, halved at the joint
60ml (1/4 cup) honey/ syrup
45ml (3T) Worcestershire sauce
30ml (2T) finely grated ginger
30ml (2T) Olive Oil/ Sun flower oil
15ml (1T) Hot Sauce Tobasco
Salt (season to taste)
45ml (3T) Tomato sauce
Foil
Fresh Parsley

1. In a large bowl, mix together the honey, Worcestershire sauce finely grated ginger, Olive oil/ sunflower oil, hot Tobasco sauce, Tomato sauce and salt. Add the chicken wings and mix around to ensure all the wings are coated in the marinade. Leave wings to marinate overnight in the fridge or leave to marinate for 4 hours.

2. Heat oven to 180C. Place foil on baking tray. Drain and reserve the marinade then spread the wings out onto the baking tray. Bake for 30 mins, then pour off the excess oil. Once excess oil has been drained add the reserved marinade and toss well. Increase oven to 200C and cook for a further 30 mins or until wings are glazed and sticky.

3. Serve on a platter dish or in a bowl with fresh parsley as garnish.
