Laundry Revolution: Discover the Latest in Washing Machine Technology – On Sale Now

Since we live in the modern era of convenience, it is quite natural to drop of your laundry at a laundromat. However, it would be much cheaper, to buy your own washing machine, which is a luxury many actually don’t have, whether it be due to space or cost. But, before you hit the online listings, you need to consider a few things before buying a new washing machine.

Budget is a deciding factor, but you also have to consider your current household situation. Here are a few tips to help you decide:

Type

You get two types of washing machines for sale, a front loader and a top loader.

Front loader

  • Loading laundry is done in the front of the washing machine.
  • It is energy efficient because it uses less water in the wash cycle.
  • It can fit into a small space or even on top of your dryer.

Top loader

  • Loading your laundry is done from the top.
  • Top loaders are cheaper than front loaders.
  • Top loaders come in two models, with an agitator which is a central pole in the middle of the drum. Your washing machine might shake more than normal but your garments will come out clean. It can also be without an agitator which is known as a high-efficiency washing machine. They can accommodate larger loads and your clothes will not become tangled around the agitator.

Load size

This is important and you need to take into consideration the number of people in your household. You do not want to buy a small washing machine where you need to do laundry every day, as that would not be cost-efficient. Buying a washing machine with a large capacity will mean that you might only have to do washing once a week, which will save water and energy.

Spinning speed

The spinning speed of your washing machine is given in rotations per minute (rpm) and most washing machines have spin speeds that will go from as little as 600rpm up to 1,600rpm. The faster it spins, the dryer your clothes will be. However, a faster machine with a higher rpm may actually cause more creases on your clothes. So, ironing would become a necessity.

Energy efficiency and water saving

Being in the 21st century, we need to save energy, money and water consumption. Washing machines have an energy rating that is displayed on the unit and indicates which class it falls into. These range from A+ to A+++, where the A+++ units are quite pricey.

Noise level

Most washing machines have a noise output that ranges from 45dbA to 61dBa during the wash cycle and it is higher during the spin cycle. Something to consider if you have guests that want to sleep a little late.

Water consumption and excessive use of laundry detergent is another matter to consider. When it comes to water usage, front loaders are the more efficient option.

Many machines today have a built-in sensor that weighs your laundry and then adapts water and detergent consumption to the relevant load size.

Additionally, some of these washing machines are getting pretty ‘smart’, as you also get certain units which will allow you to operate and monitor your machine with a mobile app.

So, as you can see, buying a washing machine might not be as easy as you thought but with these guidelines, we are hoping it will help you to decide on what washing machine you should buy for your home.
