Progressive New Hotel Brand, SALT Launches First Property in Mauritius

Salt of Palmar

SALT, a contemporary new hotel brand, has launched its first progressive property on the east coast of Mauritius. A totally unique travel concept, the modern SALT of Palmar takes a humanistic approach to hospitality by connecting guests to local people and their way of life. With this new luxury resort, SALT offers travellers a chance to really immerse themselves in the culture of the country they’re visiting by encoraging guests to explore beyond the walls of the resort. Perfectly progressive, SALT of Palmar is the ultimate cultural experience!

Located on the picturesque island of Mauritius, SALT of Palmar offers a unique experience that allows guests to immerse themselves in the diverse culture of Mauritius. What’s more, the hotel revolves around a focus on sustainability and environmental consciousness above all. Guests will have the opportunity to connect with locals via Skill Swap, exchanging time, talent, passions and skills with the other islanders — think pottery, cooking, music, early morning fishing and basket weaving. You can also hire convertibles or bikes to explore nearby attractions, villages, temples and markets.

With a zero-waste policy, SALT is also committed to sustainable, clean, fresh food with a focus on heath and the environment. The team provides guests with a culinary journey including traditions, stories, flavours and highly skilled craftsmanship. A team of local chefs designs the daily-changing menu around whatever farmers and fishermen provide that day, using ancient cooking methods like the wok, tandoor oven and charcoal grill. Fresh fish is brought to the kitchen each morning and the SALT Farm (which cultivates hydroponic produce) supplies fresh fruit and vegetables. The on-site bakery also produces freshly-made bread, pastries, African coffee, local teas and a selection of tropical juices.

There’s also plenty to do and discover inside the convinbes of the resort. Guests can expect to tap their feet to the rhythm of Sega music with local artists performing regularly at the resort, creating a fun atmosphere perfect for unwinding during your stay. Guests are offered even more opportuntities to relax and unqind at the hotel’s library, hand-curated by a team of local authors, and the SALT Equilibrium spa, complete with a salt room, five treatment rooms and a team of expert therapists to help re-energise your body. The hotel also offers social activities based on shared interests like a Sunrise Run Club, meditation, dawn photography tours, yoga and hikes.
