Serving Summer: Time Out Market Cape Town Launches New Seasonal Menu Dishes
After years of working as an Editor and writer for…
Summer has arrived at Time Out Market Cape Town with the launch of its new summer menu, including a curated line-up of seasonal dishes to be enjoyed throughout the warmer season.
From fresh ceviche and sushi rolls to Greek mezze, pizza topped with hot honey and mango kulfi, the summer menu brings together a mix of lighter, vibrant dishes across the Market’s kitchens. It is food made for sharing and grazing.
Summer in Cape Town has a rhythm of its own. Mornings start at the beach, sunsets stretch well past dinner time, and the best plans often come together at the last minute. The new dishes suit that easy pace, with plates designed for sharing and flavours that pair well with a cold drink from the Market’s bars. Groups can each order from a different kitchen and still sit down to eat together.

“Our chefs have had fun with this menu. They’ve worked with fresh, seasonal produce and created dishes that are lighter and full of flavour, which is exactly what people want to eat when the weather warms up. Every counter has something new, so it’s worth coming back more than once to try it all,” says Russ Meyer, General Manager of Time Out Market Cape Town.
At Una Más Taqueria, the Tuna ceviche combines fresh tuna with pineapple, jalapeños and a crisp tostada, while Sushiya brings a Yellowtail Jalapeño Roll with avocado and ponzu. For something fresh, Nøsh Café serves a smoked salmon salad with grapefruit and pomegranate, while How Bao Now gives line fish a Thai-inspired twist with its Fried line fish bao served with Thai red curry.
For the table, Opá! Greek Street Food’s Mezze Platter brings together pitas, hummus, tzatziki, halloumi, dolmades and souvlaki. Over at Yard, the Williamsburg pizza is topped with spicy Italian sausage, ricotta, and hot honey, while Carne adds a beef sausage with grilled corn and onion relish. And for something sweet, Kapoochka’s Mango kulfi offers a cool end to a summer’s night.

Dine with us: WomenStuff’s favourite bites
Some of my favourite bites from the summer menu launch tasting included Sushiya’s Yellowtail Jalapeño Uramaki, Una Mas’s Baja Style Crispy Fish Tacos, How Bao Now’s Chicken Potsticker.
Sushiya’s sushi dish offers Uramaki draped with Yellowtail dressed ponzu, topped with lemon zest mayo, jalapeño, toasted white sesame, inside cucumber and avocado. Packed with fresh flavours and a punch of spice, it’s a dish sushi lovers will want to return to the market for time and time again.

For the Baja Style Crispy Fish Tacos Una Mas combines Mexican and South African flavours with crispy non-alcoholic beer battered hake with fresh coleslaw, creamy chipotle aioli, and house salsa macha. I’ve had never had hake served like this; what a delicious surprise. Who knew our humble hake could be elevated with these fresh and spicy Mexican flavours? Try it, you’ll love it!
The How Bao Now Chicken Potsticker is another unmissable dish. Served with cucumber and chilli crisp soy these moreish mouthfulls are a delightful snack or starter if you’re indulging in a multi-course journey at Time Out Market Cape Town.

These are just a few of the new highlights, with plenty more new summer dishes to discover across the market.
While you’re there, don’t forget to head to the bar to try the cocktail menu. There are some beautiful non-alcoholic and traditional cocktails on offer. The non-alcoholic Mojito is a great way to celebrate the warmer weather without the headache, while the traditional negroni offers a classic cocktail with all the gees you’ve come to expect. The market hosts a happy hour every day from 20:00 – 22:00 giving you the chance to sip and sample selected drinks at a fraction of the price.
