Tasting Summer at Radisson Collection Hotel Waterfront: Tobago’s Seasonal Menu is Made for Long Lunches
After years of working as an Editor and writer for…
This summer, Radisson Collection Hotel Waterfront Cape Town is inviting locals and visitors to spend more time by the water with unrivaled ocean-front views paired with a new seasonal menu at Tobago’s Restaurant. Located on the edge of Granger Bay, Tobago’s Restaurant at Radisson Collection Hotel Waterfront offers arguably the best ocean views of any restaurant in Cape Town. With the blue Atlantic at your table’s edge, dolphin sightings are a regular occurrence and on a clear day there’s no better place to indulge in a long lunch with loved ones.
The summer menu welcomes warmer weather with new coastal flavours, seasonal produce, and dishes made for sharing. Options include Greek Avocado Salad, Summer Caprese, and Charred Roma Tomato Soup for starters. While mains offers generous helpings of Prawn and Chicken Gnocchi, Grilled Line Fish, and Hot Honey Pork Ribs.

Lighter meal options include a Beef Burger, Vegan Gyro Pita, and Lamb Malay Curry. For dessert indulge in a Vegan Chocolate and Mixed Berry Pave or a Baked Lemon and Vanilla Cheesecake.
I opted to start my meal with the West Coast Mussels (R195), a must-try for any seafood lover. Served with garlic and white wine cream, crisp pancetta, and herb focaccia this sublime dish is coastal comfort food done right. The rich creamy sauce pairs beautifully with the mussels and provides plenty of moreish dipping opportunities for the crispy focaccia.

For mains I decided on the Crispy Fried Calamari (R295) served with spicy Romesco sauce. I much prefer this take on fried calamari served with a spicy tomato-based sauce over the usual heavy tartar sauce often paired with this dish. The smoky, spicy sauce brings a new dimension of flavour to the fattiness of battered calamari, creating a beautiful balance of sweet, smoky heat, and savoury flavours.
After lunch, guests are invited to linger a little longer with cocktails at the bar followed by an ocean-side stroll down the hotel’s open-air boardwalk. The bar offers a selection of expertly-made cocktails as well as an extensive wine list to help welcome the sunset in style.

If you’re planning lunch at Tobago’s I implore you to block out your afternoon because it’s extremely difficult to tear yourself away from this breathtaking spot. Lunch will turn into post-lunch drinks, which will turn into sundowners at the bar, and eventually you’ll realise it’s already dinner time and you could do with a little nibble. You have be warned.
