When her husband suddenly dumps her, long time dedicated housewife Deanna (McCarthy) turns regret into re-set by going back to college… landing in the same class and school as her daughter, who’s not entirely sold on the idea. Plunging headlong into the campus experience, the increasingly outspoken Deanna — now Dee Rock — embraces freedom, fun and frat boys on her own terms, finding her true self in a senior year no one ever expected.
When asked what drew her to the role of Deanna in Life of the Party McCarthy said it was the idea of second chances and reinventing yourself that really caught her eye. “I love when people tell me they’re starting over, doing something like moving to a foreign country, said McCarthy. “I’m from a small farm town where most people can’t do that. As I grew older, I realized you can really do anything. You can change – your location, your job, how you see the world, what you love…anything. The possibilities are endless and exciting.”
