If there’s one thing you need to know about it me it’s that I am OBSESSED with lip balms and glosses. Rummage through my handbag (if you dare) and you will find a range of different glosses and balms, with each one holding a special place in my heart. My obsession runs so deep that I have actually been on a quest to find the very best lip balm and the most fabulous lip gloss in the all the land (the holy grail of balms and glosses if you will). In the process I managed to find 5 lip products that I am now completely besotted with and I just need to share them with you! Here are 5 lipsticks, balms and glosses you simply HAVE to try!
1. Dr Hauschka Labimint Acute Lip Care
The name of this lip balm might sound super serious but trust me this stuff is like liquid gold for lips. It works like a charm when treating dry and chapped lips and is the only thing I use when I get cold sores (the bane of my existence). I have never used a lip balm that moisturises my lips as quickly as this stuff and while it might be R180 a tube it’s so worth it! It also last forever as a small amount, smaller than a pea is enough to cover your lips.
Where to buy it: This product is quite hard to track down in South Africa but luckily spashop.co.za is a reliable stockist that always has stock. Click here to buy the Dr Hauschka Labimint Acute Lip Care now.
2. Revlon ColorBurst Lacquer Lip Balm
I’ve first fell in love with these Revlon lacquer lip balms 2 years ago and our relationship has only grown from strength-to-strength. The high-shine, shimmering lip lacquer is a moisturising balm and a ‘lipstick’ because it also adds a lick of colour to your lips when you use it. The balms come in a range of different colours to suit any skin type. Infused with a triple butter complex of shea, coconut and mango, your lips stay nourished for hours after using it. At R130 per stick it’s a great investment for any handbag.
Where to buy it: The Revlon Lacquer Lip Balm range is available at most make-up counters as well as online at Spree.co.za. Click here to buy the Revlon ColorBurst Lacquer Lip Balm now.
3. Glo Minerals Lip Plumper
I absolutely love Glo Minerals and their Lip Pumper is probably one of my most favourite products in the range. Apply the product alone or before applying lip colour and then enjoy fabulously plump lips. Formulated with an exclusive blend of antioxidants including vitamins A, C, E and green tea, this product does wonders for the look and feel of your lips. The product retails for about R200 depending on where you shop.

4. Shiseido Perfect Rouge Lipstick
The perfect rouge lipstick range Shiseido is a must-have for any women or hates caking and clumping. These lipsticks glide on and are soft and creamy when applied to your lips. The lip colour is also long lasting without drying out. This is thanks to the super Hydro-Wrap Vitalizing DE and Hyaluronic acid. There are about 25 lipstick shades available and they retail for about R34o.
Where to buy it: The Shiseido range is available at selected Edgars and Stuttafords stores.
5. Clinique Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss
This is by far one of my most favourite lip glosses on the planet. It’s like lip balm with a colourful twist and offers a luscious, high-gloss finish. This gloss instantly relieve dryness and protects your lips from harm while also making you look fabulous. The gloss retails for R245 and is perfect for those hate sticky glosses.
The gloss is available at Clinique make-p counters as well as online though the Clinique online store. Click here to buy the Clinique Superbalm now.
