Crumbs & Cream Launch Morish New Churro Ice Cream Sandwich! [Review]
This is not a drill – I must insist you drop what you’re doing and make your way to Sea Point right now. That’s right – drop that pencil, let go of that mouse, and peel yourself off your office chair because Cape Town’s favourite ice cream sandwich store, Crumbs & Cream, have just launched their new summer menu and it includes a morish Churro Ice Cream Sandwich. What a time to be alive!
I got the chance to try the new offering this past weekend and I’ve got to admit, it’s brilliant. I am a HUGE churro fan so this new ice cream sarmie is pretty much a dream come true for me. If you’ve never heard of churros then you need to educate yourself on the fried doughnut-like pastry because it is all kinds of wonderful.
I popped into the Sea Point store and opted to enjoy a generous dollop of French Vanilla gelato sandwiched between two cookie-shaped churros. I really was super impressed with this new addition to the menu and found the churros to be beautifully soft and just the right amount of sweet. The subtle cinnamon taste paired wonderfully with the French Vanilla ice cream but you can pair your churros with any flavour you’d like. You can also add all sorts of toppings and spreads to make it a rather epic experience.
If churros aren’t your thing, we can’t be friends then you can also try one of the many other offerings from the new menu including the indulgent Blondie (every sweet tooth’s dream). The vanilla-flavoured brownie, made with white chocolate chunks, is said to be pure magic in your mouth! Enjoy it on its own or with your favourite ice cream flavour as an ice cream sarmie. Another great addition to the menu is the Pretzel Choc Chip Cookie (the perfect combination of sugar and salt), Granola Cookie (with cranberry and cinnamon), and the Christmas Special Edition Red Velvet Cookie (with white chocolate and mint sprinkles).
Of course, you can’t leave without trying some of the new ice cream flavours (lemon meringue, apple pie, coconut and hazelnut chocolate, to name a few) and new toppings like sours and gummies. You can even enjoy your favourite ice cream flavour as a new “Crumbs Shake”. Yup, Crumbs & Cream have introduced shakes! Served with colourful whipped cream, this mouth-watering shake is made with your choice of ice cream and cookie flavours.
Speaking of delicious drinks, if it’s something refreshing you’re after then check out the newly launched Granitas – choose from lemonade-mint, strawberry-lemon and granadilla lemon-mint (with more flavours coming soon). Semi-frozen and super tasty, this is a must-have on a hot day.
Crumbs & Cream have extended their Sea Point store’s hours to satisfy your late night cravings!
