Fitchella Adds ‘Rush’ Hybrid Fitness Racing Category to Cape Town Festival

Cape Town’s favourite fitness festival is back! Even better news? This time around it’s more inclusive than ever before. In an exciting move, the annual Fitchella fitness festival is broadening its horizons with a third category to include hybrid fitness racing. The addition of the new ‘Rush’ category sees the fitness festival broadening its scope from a CrossFit -focused event to a festival any fitness enthusiast can participate in.

For this electrifying weekend, Fitchella welcomes everyone from beginners to elite athletes for a weekend of pushing limits and setting personal bests. It’s time to take fitness out of the gym and smash those goals against the backdrop of the stunning coastal scenery of Camps Bay!

Fitchella is loved for being an immersive experience that blends fitness and the energy of a music festival. It’s an all-out, high-octane weekend where high-intensity CrossFit and Hybrid workouts, outdoor challenges, team competitions, and boundless energy come together in the most exhilarating way possible.

Taking place from 12 – 14 December 2025 at Camps Bay High School, Fitchella offers three categories to participate in. Classic (12 – 14 Deecmber), Grit (13 December), and Rush (14 December).

For those interested in Hybrid Fitness Racing, Rush is a non-stop, race-style workout for teams of two. Built for speed, sweat, and endurance, Rush is all about simple movements with no CrossFit skillset required. It’s a category with no barriers to entry. If you love the style of fitness racing that blends running with functional movements, then Rush is for you!

The festival offers an opportunity for fitness lovers to celebrate fitness, enjoy the summer vibes, and break a sweat in a beautiful setting. The festival is a way for the fitness community to come together, no matter their discipline, and embrace a shared love of an active lifestyle.

The movements for the Rush category are simple and involve 8 x 700m runs and 7 functional fitness stations. The functional movements include step overs, plate lunges, ski erg, burpee broad jumps, farmer’s carry, and rowing.

To make the event more memorable for those participating and their supporters, Fitchella has teamed up with brand partners Castle Lite, Men’sHealth, Women’sHealth, Bootlegger, Rebel Elite Fitness, Nutritech, Amazfit, ISDIN, SIAL, Manzi, Velites, Redbull, Sole Ink, and 4RE.

How much does it cost?

Spectator tickets are available online from Quicket at R120 per person. Entrance is free for kids under 12 years-old.
