It’s no secret that heat saps energy – especially when you’re working out! A baking summer sun can reduce your performance in the gym, slow down your run times, and cause chafing in all the wrong places due to increased sweat. But thanks to a whole range of new fabrics made with innovative materials that react to your sweat, rather than succumb to it, you can now keep your cool that little bit longer. In addition to keeping you cool when it matters most, Under Armour’s new Threadborne range also promises to minimise excess and improve athletic performance at all levels. The range offers three technology icons including Microthread, Seamless, and Siro, each with its own unique spin on active wear. I got the chance to put the Siro technology to the test with the new UA Threadborne Siro Tank Top – here’s why it’s the ideal tank for high impact sports and heavy sweat sessions.
By RE-revaluating yarn fabrication techniques, UA Threadborne Siro materials are built to work with the new demands of competition that require better feel, more fluid movement, and real-time performance from active wear. We all know that wearing the wrong clothes to an intense HIIT class, while running, or while playing your favourite sport can be a serious distraction. Nothing annoys me more than clothes that make their presence known during my workout. While I’m loathing the fact that my legs hurt or second guessing my sanity after deciding to go for a run when the sun is at its highest, the last thing I need is my tank top sticking to me or rubbing against my skin.
That’s where UA Threadborne Siro comes in. Threadborne Siro fabric has been designed to offer greater stretch & recovery during and after exercise and has an ultra-soft feel that won’t distract you during your sweat session. The material also offers a more breathable performance with a unique Moisture Transport System that wicks sweat and makes it dry fast as well as an Anti-odor technology that helps prevent the growth of odor-causing microbes. The UA Threadborne Siro Tank Top has been designed to have a loose, generous, and more relaxed fit with rolled forward shoulder seams, a classic racer back, and scoop neck collar.
I put the tank top and the Threadborne Siro technology to the test by wearing the tank top during a pretty intense netball game and an arguably even more intense SWEAT1000 class. I’m super particular about the clothes I wear when working out and I loathe wearing anything too tight on top because I don’t want to be distracted by things riding up, sticking to my body when I sweat, or even constricting me when I move. I love how flexible this UA Siro tank is, the material is super soft and feels like silk on your skin when you try it on but also feels as light as air (so light, you’ll forget you’re wearing it) when you’re working hard on the court or in the gym. The material moves with your body as you twist and turn and doesn’t restrict your movement. And, the fact that the tank wicks sweat and dries it as you workout meant I didn’t feel like a total sweaty pig (I’m sure I looked like one) during my workout.
This lightweight tank top is perfect for high-intensity sports or activities and still feels as soft as butter wash after wash. At R632 it’s not exactly a cheap investment but if you’re serious about your training and workouts it’s a great addition to your workout wardrobe.
