5 Surprising Uses for Vaseline

Vaseline

Vaseline has been around for well over 150 years and has come a long way since then. Back in the day, Vaseline was mostly used to heal cuts and burns but today the list of things you can do with the hero product has grown incredibly. We all know that the petroleum jelly product is perfect for keeping nappy rash under control and relieving chapped lips and skin, but did you know there are a million other uses for this age-old product? We’ve got just five of them below so keep reading to discover our top 5 surprising uses for Vaseline.

1. Keep your cuticles healthy

Forget expensive cuticle oils, Vaseline is a great cuticle moisturiser, especially in winter! Just dab a small amount on your cuticles before bed every night and you will always have a healthy nail bed. If you suffer from dry, cracked cuticles in winter then Vaseline will be a lifesaver for you.

2. Be a manicure queen

If you always struggle to paint your own nails then Vaseline will be your saviour. The next time you paint your nails, start by applying a thin layer of Vaseline along the edge of your nails and cuticles. The Vaseline will help catch any overflow polish and mistakes. Once your nails are pretty, just use a cotton bud to wipe away the nail polish around your nails and you will have a professional-looking paint job.

2. Remove stubborn makeup

If you can’t bear to spend your hard-earned money on an expensive makeup remover then just reach for the Vaseline! Dip a cotton ball in some Vaseline and gently rub away stubborn makeup (even waterproof makeup!) with the cotton bud. This trick works best for stubborn waterproof mascara.

3. Make a DIY lip scrub

Once you’re satisfied with the results gently remove it with a warm, damp cloth and apply some Vaseline (without the sugar) to moisturise!

5. Get soft hands and feet

Replace your monthly mani-pedi with this easy at-home treatment and you’ll save loads of time and money! Before bed, mix a little bit of sugar with Vaseline to create a hand and foot scrub and then gently exfoliate hands and feet with the mixture. Wash your hands and feet well and then massage Vaseline into both hands and feet. Put on a pair of cotton gloves and a pair of cotton socks and then go to bed.
