H&M Beauty Chupa Chups Collection Review: Nostalgia Meets Beauty Essentials
In July this year we dropped the news about H&M Beauty’s sweet new collaboration with Chupa Chups. At the time, the exciting collection had plenty of hype and we were all beyond excited to take our beauty routines on a deliciously nostalgic journey. The collection saw a range of lip-focused beauty products displaying the vibrant and iconic Chupa Chups branding.
Now that the excitement has settled, I wanted to look beyond the collection’s playful, retro packaging. With its dangerously tempting affordable price points and alluring fun product designs, any purchase from H&M Beauty seems like a no-brainier. But, then the retailer went ahead and launched a collaboration with one of the most recognisable 90s nostalgia brands.
My curiosity piqued; is a purchase from H&M Beauty just fun retail therapy or can these products stand up against their fellow drug store counterparts as serious contenders for our hard earned Rands?

If you’ve always been curious about H&M Beauty and whether the products are worth your time, then this is the review for you. Here’s an attempt at a serious beauty review about a collection of products designed to appeal to your inner child.
LIP SWIRL – OVERNIGHT LIP MASK, R129
At just R129, this softening overnight lip mask is enriched with shea butter to deeply hydrate and nourish lips while you sleep. The unique double-coloured swirl effect features Choco Vanilla and Strawberry Cream scents for a sweet, relaxing experience.
I didn’t think I would love this lip mask as much as I do. Cute candy design aside, it smells incredible and it really works. I’ve added this lip mask to my bedtime routine and it’s been a sweet surprise to wake up with soft, nourished lips every morning. In fact, most days I don’t even wait until bed time to apply it, I just keep it on my desk to give my lips a treat whenever I need it. Run, don’t walk to add this little wonder to your cart.
JUICY DUO – LIP BALM DUO, R129
A moisturising lip balm duo infused with shea butter to soften and care for your lips throughout the day. Available in two delicious scents: Cherry and Watermelon.
When I’m not reapplying the lip mask I’m reaching for this delicious duo. I adore these lip balms. On the surface they look like something you’d gift your make-up obsessed 10-year-old niece, but in practice they’re fantastic. The candy flavoured scent lives up to the packaging without being sickly sweet and the shea butter -based formula does an excellent job of keeping your lips feeling soft and nourished all day long.
CHERRY SPLASH – HAIR & BODY MIST, R99
A refreshing cherry-scented mist that can be used on both body and hair, leaving a sweet fragrance that lasts all day. This is the only product in the range that isn’t lip-focused.
At first I thought this product was just a bit of fun, but I’m embarrassed to admit how much I use this scent. It’s my go-to after gym when I don’t have time to wash my hair and need to fool the general public into thinking my hygiene standards are at an acceptable adult level.
Is the scent sophisticated? Absolutely not. Do I still love it? You bet! It smells just like a Chupa Chups lollipop and I swear they infused it with feel-good juju because one spritz instantly lifts your mood. Using this body mist is a great reminder that it’s okay not to be so serious all the time. Especially when you’ve just done the hardest HIIT workout of your life and need a pick-me-up.
Accessories to sweeten the deal
Alongside these sweet essentials, the collection also introduced a range of Chupa Chups-branded accessories. This included a Lipgloss Holder (R99) and a Mini Round Bag (R179).
The gloss guard keychain holder is pure genius. It’s been such a joy to have my lip balm within easy reach whenever I need it, thanks to this nifty tool. I keep it on my car keys and it has come in handy more times than I can count. Just as useful is the mini round bag. It has a little clip that enables you to attach it to your handbag for easy access to makeup, coins, or whatever else you want to store in there.
H&M Beauty what’s the verdict?
Sorry to my budget but this collection has turned me into a fan of H&M Beauty. I’m really impressed by the quality of the products. After falling in love with these little gems I will definitely be keeping a closer eye on the beauty section in H&M from now on. The best thing about the H&M Beauty range is that everything is very well-priced, making these coveted items so accessible.
