Every month out beauty desk is inundated with new beauty products to try – from new skincare product releases to fabulous new makeup items and more, there’s always something exciting to try. Of course, there’s no way that any one women would be able to try all of these new products every month so I thought I would put together a super handy list of my favourite new beauty products that are worth a look. Most of the products featured here have been personally reviewed by me, so you know they’re aces but I’ve also included some interesting finds that I can’t wait to try. Here are 10 new beauty products you need to know about!

LCN Matte Effect Nail Polish
I love these new matte polishes from LCN. I tried the “Sharp as a Bullet” intense matte black as well as “Sweetheart” pink and “Puppy Love” maroon. I enjoyed using these polishes because they allow you to create an even, streak-free look with an intense colour coverage. The black only needed two coats to get the effect I wanted and was easy to apply. I also love that LCN’s polishes are ‘5 free’ meaning they don’t contain Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin or Camphor. The polishes also lasted quite long on my nails (a full 3 days without chipping, which is huge for me!)
All three are available in pocket-friendly 8ml for home use or professional 16ml sizes. The polishes are R500 as a part of a set of four. Find LCN at select Laser Beautique stores or email consumer@lcn.co.za for orders. Click here to say Hi to LCN South Africa on Facebook.
INOAR Argan Oil Thermoliss Defrizz Balm
This new Thermo-active, chemical-free defrizzing balm is pretty much a game changer for ladies who struggle with frizzy locks. It’s an incredible styling aid for both straight and curly hair and will have your hair under control in seconds. Use it straight after you’ve washed your hair or run some through dry locks for quick and easy styling before you run out the door. The product contains INOAR’s signature Argan Oil as well as silk amino acids and provitamins B5 which help to seal the hair’s surface while also protecting it from heat styling. Frequent use will see your hair getting progressively sleeker with every dollop. I got the chance to test out this product and absolutely loved it – my hair took to it like a moth to a flame and it really works wonders on unruly hair. Make sure you use just a small drop of product each time as a little goes a very long way.
Find it at leading hair salons nationwide or online at R390 for a 240ml tube. The range also includes a shampoo and conditioner are R360 each.
Palladio Herbal Eyeshadow Primer and Herbal Matte Eyeshadow Duos
We all want makeup that lasts just as long as we do – there’s nothing more annoying than spending ages on your makeup in the morning only to have to reapply by lunch time. Palladio’s herbal eyeshadow primer is a must-try for ladies who want to make less trips to the bathroom mirror and have their eyeshadow last longer without losing out on colour intensity. Of course, this handy little product goes hand-in-hand with Palladio’s new Herbal Matte Eyeshadow Duos. I got the chance try the new eyeshadow duos and I fell in love with the ultra-velvety matte finish. The colours are very highly pigmented which means they will last and last. The shadows don’t have any shimmer or sparkle, so there’s no risk of looking like a 12-year-old girl when wearing them and they’re great for creating a dramatic, yet sophisticated look.
The Palladio Herbal Eyeshadow primer is available at R84.95 and the Herbal Matte Eyeshadow Duos at R89.95 each, both exclusively at Dis-Chem pharmacies.
HASK Charcoal Range with Citrus Oil
Hair weighing you down? It might be time for a detox! The new Hask Charcoal range with citrus oil offers ladies a deep clean that will ultimate bring their hair back to life. The purifying range of shampoo, conditioner, and deep conditioner is perfect for ladies who use a lot of products or who suffer from dry scalp. The range contains, charcoal derived from coconut shells, which acts a hero ingredient to attract and remove impurities and build up. The citrus oils (name grapeseed and lemon) help to invigorate the hair without stripping away moisture. I tried the full range and absolutely adored it. I’ve used it three times now and my hair felt super clean and soft after each use. My scalp was particularly thrilled – I suffer from psoriasis and found that my scalp stayed clean and healthy for a full 5 days after using the range. The deep conditioner is an absolutely fabulous product and works to give your hair an extra boost when it really needs it. I used a half a sachet on the first wash and again on the third wash and loved the results.
The purifying shampoo and purifying conditioner are available at R129.95 each and the purifying deep conditioner sachet at R49.95. Find the range at Clicks stores nationwide.
Restylane Skinboosters
I’ve always been weary of injecting stuff into my skin but I am so happy I gave Restylane a try! The Restylane Skinbooster offer a fresh approach to skin rejuvenation by offering improved skin elasticity, firmness, and skin hydration with no down time. If you’re looking for a subtle solution to skin roughness, fine lines, dehydration, skin imperfections or depressed acne scars then this is the treatment for you. This injectable Hyaluronic gel is super safe and is designed to deliver natural-looking, lasting hydration and improvements in skin quality. I tried it and walked away with beautifully glowing skin. Ideally, the product is designed to be used on aging or sun damaged skin anywhere upwards from 35-years old but anyone from their late 20s up can benefit from the product – as they say prevention is always the way to go! I also love that the product can be used on the face, hands and decolletage and results can last up to 12 months! You will need to go for a course of three treatments, of two – four weeks apart in the beginning but thereafter you will only need to maintain your results once a year. I’ve been for just one treatment so far and am already loving the results. My skin feels hydrated and smooth and I can only imagine the results after the full course.
Treatments start from R1500 for just the eyes to R3000 for the full face – depending on where you go. Of course, treatments must be supervised by an aesthetic doctor! I was treated by Dr Michelle Emett from Refine Anti-aging & Laser Clinic in Hermanus (www.refineclinic.co.za). Capetonians can visit Dr Mignon Laub at Just Skin Clinic in Greenpoint (www.justskinclinic.co.za) or at Fresh Wellness at The Cellars Hohenhort Constantia.
Locycare Nail Gel
If your nails are in need of a serious pick-me-up then it might be time to call in the big guns. Leave your nails bare for 2 weeks, or more and watch as Galderma’s Locycare nail gel works its magic on your natural nails. This little product packs a powerful punch and works to hydrate the nail bed, improve discolouration and promote healthy nail growth. I tried the product on my nails for two weeks and I noticed a vast improvement in cuticle health and the quality of my nails. This product is a definite must-try for ladies who love to wear polish often – but don’t forget you will have to go bare for a few weeks to really see results.
Locycare nail gel is available at R169, from selected pharmacies nationwide.
Power Styler by Veaudry
I was blessed with a thick mop of hair so something as simple as a blow-dry can take ages – even in the salon! If, like me, you struggle to blow-dry your own hair or your hair takes ages to blow dry because it’s so darn thick then I’ve found a saviour of note for you. The great minds at Veaudry have recently introduced the oh-so-awesome Power Styler and while it might not look like much, it will cut your blow-dry time in half (true story!). These little ceramic attachments instantly transform your hair dryer into a power tool of note and help you achieve shinier, smoother, longer lasting results in far less time. Watching this tool in action is like watching magic – simply blow-dry your hair in the usual way, guiding The Power Styler gently down the hair shaft to achieve instant results. The hot air heats the ceramic plates, acting like a straightener, leaving your hair looking smooth and shiny. If I saw an advert for this product on TV I wouldn’t believe it worked but I got to try it out first hand and trust me, it works like a bomb.
The Power Styler is available online from Beauty-Worx at R395 and from Hair by Elouise at The Cellars-Hohenort, Constantia.
