Joburgers it’s time to dust off your old roller-skates and get your retro on because a new roller-skating rink has opened its doors in Jozi! The roller arena opened its doors on 1 May this year and is already making waves as the new hotspot for both young and old. We’ve got all the details on the new Rolling Cherry, so keep reading to see how you can get involved and get active at this super awesome new space.
The brain child of Diako Faith and Sizwe Sibeko, Rolling Cherry is a brand new type of space in Joburg’s Maboneng precinct. Here you can pop in with your friends or children and enjoy an afternoon skating, eating, taking in the rooftop views … and singing karaoke. That’s right apart from the roller arena, Rolling Cherry also has a karaoke room where you can spend the evening belting out your favourite tunes.
The roller rink is open on Thursday nights and Friday nights as well as Saturdays and Sundays all day. Saturday and Sundays are family days with kids from the age of 7 years old welcome to join in on the fun. The arena has skating instructors waiting to give you and your little ones lessons in skating in a safe and friendly environment.
Night time is party time and sees students, teenagers and young adults heading to the arena for a night of skating and great music. Thursday is student night and R120 gets you in for 3 hours skating and a hot dog from 17:00 – 21:30.
A roller-skating session is R100 and entrance to the karaoke room is R50, skaters are also welcome to go through to eat and skate from 09:00 – 20:00 every day and enjoy a bite from the on-site eatery. Skaters can take their own skates to the arena or hire a pair of skates when they arrive.
The roller arena is located at Ariel Empire House, 7 Sivewright Avenue, Maboneng. For more information on the arena say Hi to Rolling Cherry on Facebook.
