Speakeasy-Style Cocktail Bar Opens in Hidden Location in Cape Town CBD

The Art of Duplicity

Sssh, don’t spoil the secret but a brand new speakeasy-inspired jazz and cocktail bar has just opened in the heart of Cape Town’s CBD! Hidden in plain sight, The Art of Duplicity, is Cape Town’s latest trendy cocktail bar that aims to stay firmly under the radar.

Hidden in a top-secret location and inspired by the 1920s Prohibition Era, The Art of Duplicity is only accessible to those lucky enough to obtain a reservation and secret password. Tucked away in an unassuming old warehouse, guests visiting this secretive spot will no doubt think they’ve gotten lost trying to find it. Once you’ve arrived you’ll have to make your way down a dramatic, dark alley before you finally discover what can only be described as a magical cocktail paradise of note.

Decorated with luxurious crystal glassware, mahogany finishes and soft glowing amber lighting, revellers at this new spot will be transported to a completely different era. The joint has a real jazzy atmosphere and is probably the closest you’ll get to visiting a real 1920s speakeasy (unless you’re lucky enough to own a time machine).

Gear up according to the ‘Mae West meets Al Capone’ dress code and prepare yourselves for a glitzy, glam 1920s evening out!

The Art of Duplicity is open Tuesday to Saturday from 18:00 to midnight with live jazz every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evening. Reservations can be made through 170120.co.za. You’ll receive further instructions via email or SMS.
