Saint restaurant

Foodies listen up, the team behind popular Joburg restaurant, Marble, have just opened hot new Italian restaurant, Saint. But this isn’t your Nonna’s Italian restaurant, just like its sister restaurant, the crazy and oh-so-stylish Italian-style eatery is all about introducing a unique dining concept to the people of Joburg.

With a team including chef David Higgs and Gary Kyriacou, the menu at Saint offers what the eatery describes as “Italian, but twisted” and features quirky takes on classic Italian dishes while still keeping it elegant. For starters diners can choose from dishes like Creamy Burrata with wood-fired tomatoes or Crispy Squid-ink Croquettes stuffed with squid heads. For mains, meat-lovers can opt for something off the grill like Wood-fired Chicken, Grilled Sirloin or Sea Bass.

But it’s the pizzas that are the main attraction at Saint. The Neapolitan style pizzas are offered with two different types of base options (tomato base and bianca, without tomato base), giving you more ways to enjoy your pizza. This place does a classic margherita pizza perfectly so make sure you try it when you visit!

To end off your meal go for something sweet like an indulgent Tiramisu served with Mascarpone gelato, or a simple but classic Affogato. While you’re there, make sure you also try the signature cocktails (named after famous Italian artists like Michelangelo and Donatello), there are a few extra special choices on the menu.

The menu and drinks are impressive but the real delight is Saint itself. The restaurant is a visual experience with a dome boasting a series of moving, constantly changing artworks — like a spacey night sky and a replica of the Sistine Chapel — projected onto the walls and ceiling from 3D projectors.

Find Saint on the corner of Maude and Rivonia Road, Sandton in The MARC building. For more information and bookings, click here.
