Good news, people of the Southern Suburbs – the Vineyard Hotel has added yoga classes to its repertoire of health and wellness offerings. Now you can enjoy your sun salutations surrounded by the tranquility and peacefulness of the famous 7 acre garden beneath the eastern slopes of Table Mountain.

The new studio, situated next to the Angsana Spa in the Vineyard’s Wellness Center, is open to everyone including both guests and locals looking to restore, revive and renew their serenity with either Hatha or Vinyasa Yoga. Hatha yoga is a gentler practice and is perfectly suited to the beginner. Vinyasa, meanwhile, is more suited to the experienced yogis.

“Hatha Yoga is a path toward creating balance and uniting opposites,” says Jess McLeod, the Vineyard’s certified first class yoga instructor. “It is a powerful tool for self-transformation. Bringing attention to our breathing, it helps us still the fluctuations of the mind and be more present in the unfolding of each moment.” Going on to explain Vinyasa yoga, Jess says “It is a vigorous style based on a rapid flow through sun salutations. Each movement is a gradual progression from one to the next. The movement is aligned and linked with the breath – you move with each inhalation and exhalation.”
