10 Gym Bag Hacks Every Woman Needs to Know!

We all have those days when going to the gym feels like a major chore — for some of us that’s every day for others it’s every once in a while. No matter if you loathe schlepping to the sweat box or love to hate it, there are a few tips and tricks you can do to make your visit to the gym that much easier. We can’t make your weights lighter or your reps fewer, but we can tell you our favourite gym bag hacks to make sure you have everything you need to make your trips to the gym suck just a little bit less. Here are our top 10 gym bag hacks every woman should know.
1. For fabulous post-gym hair:
If you wash your hair after every workout (and you probably should!) then this trick is a must-try for fabulous post-gym hair! Toss a bottle of your favourite deep conditioner in your gym bag and apply the conditioner to the ends of your hair before tying it in a bun and hitting the gym floor. The conditioner will treat dry ends while you’re exercising and the heat from working out will help to lock in the moisture – so clever! Then, once you’re done sweating, hit the showers and rinse it out before washing your hair as normal. You will leave the gym with soft, beautiful-looking hair.
2. Leave your makeup bag at home:
Forget lugging a massive makeup bag with you, keep it simple by creating your own ‘sample sizes’ for your favourite makeup. For eyeshadow on the go simply swipe your favourite eyeshadow with a cotton bud or two and then slip them inside a plastic lunch bag or zip lock bag. Then once you’re ready to use them after your workout, simply pull them out, wipe them over your eyelids and you’ll look as pretty as a peach. This nifty trick will save you loads of space in your gym bag. For liquid bits and bobs try squirting your liquid beauty products into a clean contact lens case for do-it-yourself travel-sized makeup.
3. Never lose a hair elastic again!
If only shedding those few extra kilograms was as easy as losing a hair elastic! Seriously where do they go? We’re quite sure there’s a parallel universe where lost hair elastics and rogue socks go to live a happier, human-free life. If you’re keen to hang on to those pesky hair elastics and always have them on hand then try keeping them together on a carabiner. It’s a good idea to always keep a bunch of hair elastics in your gym bag in case of emergencies and this is one way to ensure you won’t be stuck trying to find one hiding at the very bottom of your bag.
4. Keep nasty smells at bay:
Prevent your shoes from stinking up your gym bag after a workout with this simple hack. Just slip a few dry tea bags into your gym bag before leaving the house and once you’re done with your workout slip them inside your gym shoes before popping them back in your gym bag. The tea bags will absorb the sweaty odours from your shoes and leave them smelling a lot fresher in the morning. You can also try sprinkling baking soda inside your smelly shoes to soak up sweat and odour.
5. Keep your bobby pins in line:
Another pesky hair accessory to keep track of is those darn sneaky bobby pins. To ensure you never lose another one again store your bobby pins inside an old Tic Tac container. This will keep them in one handy place at all times – of course, we can’t promise this will stop you from forgetting them in the shower, on the bathroom counter or anywhere else for that matter.
