There’s no better way to beat the Monday blues than to start making fun plans for the rest of the week. One of our favourite past times here at the WomenStuff offices is after work drinks and we are always on the lookout for new, fancy pants places where we can cheers to the fact that we got through another day without having to be checked into a mental institution (win!) And, what better way is there to enjoy a delicious cocktail, craft beer or mocktail than with good friends and a beautiful view to look at? We live in South Africa so there’s plenty of beauty to gaze at so we thought we’d bring you our list of the Top 5 Bars With a View That Are Worth a Visit!

1. The Leopard Bar, 12 Apostles Cape Town


This bar at the 12 Apostles is one of the best places to watch the sun go down in Cape Town. With live entertainment Monday to Saturday evenings and an extensive menu featuring everything from wines and ports to cocktails, the relaxed bar offers a great spot for after-work drinks with friends and colleagues or romantic sun-downers with your special someone. Of course, the bar also boasts pretty incredible views of the ocean from both inside the bar and outside on the balcony.

2. The Island Bar, Southern Sun Hyde Park, Johannesburg

This rooftop bar is small but offers incredible views of Joburg’s northern suburbs. With a sparkling pool and extensive drinks menu it is one of the best places to meet friends for after work drinks. The drinks aren’t cheap and the service can be a little bit slow but the vibe is absolutely fabulous. Make sure you try their cocktails and sushi; they make for great snacks while sipping on something yummy.

3. Gino’s Skyview Bar, John Ross House, Durban

Located on the 32nd floor of John Ross House this inner-city hot spot offers incredible panoramic views of downtown Durban and a stylish place to sip on a few cocktails. Offering a menu of delicious cocktails, wines, beers and whiskies there’s no better place for a sip and a nibble.

Of course, the restaurant also offers delicious food but if it’s just drinks and a great view you are after then this sea-side spot is the best choice. 5. The Sunroof Terrace, Park Inn by Radisson, Cape Town Foreshore

This slick rooftop bar in Cape Town’s city centre is a bit of a hidden gem when it comes to after work drink spots. With an extensive cocktail menu and a wide range of other drinks on offer this sky-high bar is an excellent choice for drinks with your friends or work mates. The spot offers spectacular views of the city below and Table Mountain and is one of the most affordable, yet chic places in the city. They also have loads of happy hour specials that your wallet will just love!
