Beyond Meat: Bay Harbour Market Welcomes The Vegan Test Kitchen
The global vegan food lifestyle has taken over the Mother City and doesn’t seem to be disappearing any time soon. With more consumers adopting a vegan diet, the market has opened for different kinds of plant-based food options — especially quick, simple and affordable meals. Cape Town’s plant-based dining scene is slowly but surely expanding with vegan-friendly eateries popping up all over town. And now, Hout bay’s Bay Harbour Market is joining in on the trend with a brand-new plant-based offering. The market’s latest foodie addition, The Vegan Test Kitchen, offers even more variety to choose from at one of the city’s favourite markets.
The Vegan Test Kitchen has joined the Bay Harbour Market to not only help accommodate the increasing demand for delicious plant-based meals and snacks at the market but also to offer a place for vegans in Cape Town to shop for healthy food and lifestyle products. Brought to you by online shop, Vegan Protein, The Vegan Test Kitchen offers a variety of vegan nibbles such as croissants, protein smoothies and chia puddings. Hungry for more? They also have a gourmet fast food menu which includes things like pitas, gourmet pies, burritos and the Beyond Meat burger — a burger than looks, cooks and tastes just like meat!
Alongside this, the stall also stocks a range of products from its online store including tofu, pea protein powder, hemp hearts, chia seeds, oats and chickpeas. To keep things environmentally-friendly, the company also only uses biodegradable, compostable bags and re-usable glass containers.
Bay Harbour Market is open on Fridays from 17:00 to 21:00, and Saturdays and Sundays from 09:30 to 16:00.
